INANIMATE

 INSANITY  AUDITIONS

INSTRUCTIONS:
1)   Congratulations  on  taking  interest  in  being  an  animator  for  Inanimate  Insanity!
2)   Pick  one  of  the  following  conversations,  any  one  you  like,  and  animate  it  in  Adobe  Flash!
If  you  have  any  questions  regarding  the  audition,  email  us  at
InanimateInsanityOfficial@gmail.com.    We  provided  all  the  audio  and  character  files  you
need  to  get  started,  then  it’s  up  to  you  to  showcase  your  creativity  from  there.
3)   Email  your  finished  .fla  file  to  InanimateInsanityOfficial@gmail.com.    We  will  then  watch
your  animation,  look  at  your  process,  and  get  back  to  you.    And  yes,  you  can  submit  as
many  auditions  as  you’d  like,  and  right  now  there  is  no  deadline  planned!    We  need  the
.FLA  file,  not  an  .SWF  or  video  file.    We  only  accept  .FLA.      (The  Flash  Document  is  a
Flash  CS5  document,  older  versions  of  Flash  unfortunately  will  not  be  supported)

AUDITION  CONVERSATIONS:  The  purpose  of  these  is  to  allow  the  animator  to  showcase  their
ability  to  act  through  a  character  as  well  as  show  off  the  characters  on  our  part.

Before  you  begin  animating,  we  highly  recommend  watching  Inanimate  Insanity  II  Episodes  7,  8
and  9  thoroughly  to  understand  how  the  characters  move  and  interact.    Also,  Niall  created  his
own  audition  for  the  last  animation  test  which  shows  off  some  very  good  character  animation.

Conversation  #1:  Fan  and  Knife
Fan:  Knife!    We  have  a  problem!    We’re  in  an  endless  white  void!    THERE’S  NO  BACKGROUND.
Knife:  Wait,  so…  there’s  really  endless  possibilities  here!
Fan:  What  are  you  talking  about!    *panting*
Knife:  Whoa  dude  you  should  calm  down.    Why  not  try  flying  off  that  pillar!
Fan:  Sure!    *camera  cuts  to  Fan  on  pillar,  Fan  flies  off  of  pillar,  spreads  his  fan  full  out*  Weeee!
*Hits  invisible  wall,  falls  to  ground*  Wow,  that  hurt!
Knife:  Endless  possibilities!    Hahahaha!
NOTE:  We  do  not  provide  a  pillar  for  you,  be  creative  and  draw  what  you  think  the  pillar
should  look  like!    We  are  mainly  concerned  with  your  animation,  but  being  a  good  artist
is  a  great  bonus.    Also,  to  see  Fan  flying,  watch  Episode  3  at  the  8:48  mark  to  get  an  idea
[https://youtu.be/nrzRpAZibVc]    This  flying  animation  was  done  years  ago,  you  can
make  it  look  better  than  this.

Conversation  #2:  OJ  and  Test  Tube
Test  Tube:  OJ!  I  have  something  to  show  you!
OJ:  Oh  hey!  What  is  it?
Test  Tube:  Behold!  My  newest  invention!  *fanfare  noise*
OJ:  Alright  um,  what  is  it  for?
Test  Tube:  What  isn’t  it  for!?  *weird  noise*    Look  at  this!  *presses  button,  it  fires  lazer  and
shatters  OJ*
Test  Tube:  OH  GOLLY  GEE!  I  never  got  to  hear  his  opinion!
*MeLife  regeneration  noise*
OJ:  It’s  terrible!  What’s  that  even  for?
Test  Tube:  *mimics  OJ*  “What’s  that  even  for?”  Pfft.  To  kill  people,  silly...
NOTE:  For  the  “MeLife  generation  noise”  you  must  animate  OJ  regenerating.    To  see
how  a  character  regenerates,  watch  Inanimate  Insanity  II  Episode  1  at  the  6:01  mark
[https://youtu.be/xEOUmwUB_cE?t=6m1s]    Also  for  Test  Tube’s  “invention”  be
creative!    Draw  what  you  think  it  will  look  like!

Conversation  #3:  Baseball  and  Fan
Baseball:  Oh  Fan,  there  you  are!    I  need  you  to  do  me  a  favor!
Fan:  Anything  to  enhance  my  character  to  the  viewers!    What  do  you  need?
Baseball:  I  need  you  to  run  up  that  ramp  and  jump  over  the  pit!
Fan:  …  Um,  WHY??
Baseball:  Because  we  want  to  challenge  the  animators!
Fan:  *gasp*  Y-‐you  broke  the  fourth  wall!  You  savage!  *freaks  out,  runs  up  ramp  and  jumps  into
pit,  an  explosion  occurs  and…  what  happens  to  him  from  there  is  up  to  you*
Baseball:  Noooo!    It  should  have  been  me!
*FIN*
NOTE:  We  do  not  provide  a  pit  for  you,  be  creative  and  draw  what  you  think  the  pit
should  look  like!    We  are  mainly  concerned  with  your  animation,  but  being  a  good  artist
is  a  great  bonus.
