Instructions:
The exam for this module is using the invigilator app. It is compulsory to use this app. Scripts
of students who have not utilised this app will be subject to disciplinary processes, and
results will be withheld pending the outcome of the disciplinary process. Your exam QR
access code is embedded above. Please read the instructions below on how to use the
invigilator app during this exam. Alternatively, an instruction document with the QR access
code is also available under the ‘Announcements’ and ‘Additional Resources’ tab on the
respective module and myExams sites.
• You should scan the QR Code as soon as you have downloaded your question paper during
the 15-minute download window before the official exam start time per the timetable, i.e.,
at 07:45 on the day of the exam.

• Please take note that you can only scan the QR code for a limited time (30 minutes) after
the commencement time of the assessment and it should therefore be scanned as soon as
possible to start the invigilation.
• Please take note that you can only scan the QR code once. Make sure you are ready to
start the assessment when you scan the QR Code.
• It is important to note that you must adhere to the time limit in your myExams assessment
as the invigilation time in the app could exceed the time allocated to complete your
assessment.
• Keep the Invigilator app open on your smartphone during the assessment. You are not
allowed to minimise or exit the application during your assessment. You cannot minimise
the application and use your smartphone for typing. If you wish to use a smartphone for
typed responses, you will need an additional smartphone. If you finish your assessment
before the app timer has run out, you need to press the ‘Finished assessment’ button and
follow further instructions before you leave the app.
• The Invigilator app will request you to take photos of your answer script (i.e. scan) after the
assessment. Please follow the instructions on the app. Take note that you are still required
to upload your answer script on the myExams portal.
• If you experience technical difficulties on The Invigilator App, contact the technical helpdesk
via WhatsApp on 073 505 8273.
Follow the guidelines in Tutorial Letter DVAALLD/301 for essay writing, citation and
referencing. You can download the tutorial letter from the module site on myUnisa. It is
available in English, Sepedi, and isiZulu. Direct quotations must be placed in inverted
commas (“…”) with a page reference as explained in Tutorial Letter DVAALLD/301. Only in-
text referencing is required. You DO NOT need to provide a list of references at the end of
your answer.
Plagiarism will be severely penalised. The University has a zero-tolerance policy stance on
academic dishonesty relating to assignments and examinations. All students are encouraged
to familiarise themselves with the academic writing requirements prescribed by Departments
and the content of the University’s policy for copyright infringement and plagiarism. All
students found guilty of academic misconduct will be referred for disciplinary action and may
have marks withdrawn and face up to a maximum of five years suspension from the University

Your answers must be your own work, in your own words. Group work will be equally
penalised as will any form of copying from any student, or any attempt to commit academic
dishonesty. You are NOT allowed to use any Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications in the exam
to generate answers or paraphrase work. This includes Grammarly, paraphrasing tools and
large language models such as ChatGPT. You are also NOT allowed to put questions in the
Google search bar and copy and paste what you find, in your exam answers. Such
transgressions will reflect in your Turnitin report. Do NOT try to cheat Turnitin by
manipulating your script so that a report cannot be generated. Such behaviour will be red
flagged by Turnitin and you will be referred for disciplinary action.
No scanned hand-written scripts or scanned typed responses will be accepted in this exam.
Submit only word-processed, PDF-converted scripts.
You will be asked to agree to an academic honesty pledge online before you are allowed to
upload your exam file. Please click on the pledge to confirm your academic honesty.

Your exam submission is linked to Turnitin and you MUST therefore accept the Turnitin End
User Licence Agreement (EULA) upon submission.
You have 4 hours in which to complete and submit your portfolio on myExams.
THIS QUESTION PAPER CONSISTS OF TWO (2) SECTIONS. ALL QUESTIONS IN THIS PAPER
ARE COMPULSORY.
Section A consists of only ONE (1) essay question. You must answer the question given. Your
essay must:
• be a minimum of 1000 words and a maximum of 1500 words excluding the cover page.
• have an Introduction, a body with applicable sub-headings, and a conclusion.
• provide examples to substantiate your arguments, and to show that you understand
the module content.
• provide evidence-based arguments and acknowledge sources of your information by
means of consistent and correct in-text referencing.
Section B consists of THIRTEEN (13) short-answer questions. Answer ALL THIRTEEN (13)
questions. In this section:
• the length of your answers must be guided by the mark scheme for each.
• use examples where relevant to substantiate your arguments, and to show that you
understand the module content.
• provide evidence-based arguments and acknowledge sources of your information by
means of consistent and correct referencing.
Use Arial 12 point font, 1.5 spacing in both sections (A&B). Your cover page as well as
answers to both sections (A&B) must be submitted as a single document in PDF format.
