had a wealthy merchant class that patronized the arts.
o Inspiration from Classical Antiquity: Italy was home to the remains of ancient
Roman culture, which inspired a revival of classical learning.
o Political Structure: The fragmented nature of Italy allowed city-states to focus on
their own cultural advancements and patronage.
o Influence of Byzantine Scholars: Many scholars from the Byzantine Empire fled
to Italy after the fall of Constantinople, bringing with them ancient Greek and
Roman texts.

2. Question: How did humanism influence the Renaissance culture?

Answer:
 Humanism focused on the study of classical texts and placed emphasis on human
potential and achievements.
 It led people to value individual achievements and encouraged a focus on worldly
