with minimum downtime

7) What is the procedure to be followed when a bag comes to Level-4?

2.4.1 All un-cleared / suspected bags at level 3 are to be reunited with their owners for
further inspection and interview. This process is normally manual and should be done in a
safe area.
2.4.2 A workstation may be installed at level-4 to retrieve the image created by Level--l
CTEDS to facilitate the physical inspection of the baggage by the security staff. Bag should
be accepted or rejected on the system as well as an entry in the baggage hand over register is
to be made.
2.4.3 These workstations should be able to pull the image of the baggage created by Level-l
machine by a barcode reader/ scanner.
2.4.3 Any bag that is still deemed to be suspect after passenger interview. or if the passenger
cannot be located, are normally handled as per SOP. Once a bag is declared as threat bag, it
should be shifted through conveyor belt system/ automatic lift system.
8) Briefly describe the procedure of Pax-baggage reconciliation at Level-4 and list the
documents being maintained

Pax Reconciliation at Level-4

b. Physical Check Register
c. Baggage handover Register
d. Weapon Book Register
e. DGR Register(DG detection Register)
f. Security sticker consumption register

9)Explain the procedure of carrying out functional test of Inline Baggage Screening. What is its
importance

1. OTC is operator test case which is used to check the performance of the level 1 x-
ray machine. It is the functional requirement.
2. The OTC bag is feed in level 1 machine from a suitable point and level 1 machine
should reject the image to level 2.
3. The level 2 operator will analyse the image and look for two frames i.e. red frame
for explosive alarm and blue frame for density alarm and will reject the image.
4. The level 3 operator will also look for two frames i.e. red frame for explosive alarm
and blue frame for density alarm and will reject the image.
5. The test is carried out for consecutive three times in a day and the result should
be pass all the three times

10)Write four advantages and four disadvantages of ETD?

ADVANTAGE:
 Quick result
 Capable of detecting small amount of explosives
 Portable
 Lesser false Alarms
 Auto calibrated
 It can detect almost all kind of explosive

DISADVANTAGE:
 Expensive and not readily available
 Difficult to maintain
 Warm up time is very high
 Training required for usage
 Can’t detect arms, detonators and power source

11) How are bags segregated before level-1 and what can be the problems due to which
overlapping images gets displayed at level-2. How do you rectify it.?

Bag conditioning pre screening

The BHS should ideally include a number of features that condition and present the bag
to the X-ray in a separate, spaced and controlled manner. This should include: -
1. Check in operator discipline e.g. tie up trailing straps, use tubs as appropriate etc.
11. Window reservation techniques at check- in Icollector conveyor
111. Use of zoned belts at transfer in feeds
IV. Automatic baggage separation
v. Spacing and pitching of bags to suit the needs of the X-ray machine.
VI. Over-height detection
Vll. Over-length detection

Classically, there are 4 potential baggage patterns that can cause problems and hence
should be detected and resolved via baggage separation i.e.
I. Bags caught up with each other, nose to tail, no overlap
II. Bags partially overlapped, left hand bag leading
III. Bags partially overlapped, right hand bag leading
IV. Bags fully overlapped, i.e. side by side.

Solution:

 a series of sensors are required to detect the above sequence.

 a series of queue conveyors, usually with inverter speed control and differing belt types are
required.
 By varying the speed differential between them it is possible to separate baggage in the
first 3 sequences above.
 45 degree Y-junction
 2 bag separation systems are to be provided, before and after the 90-degree junction.
These are normally termed 'primary' and 'secondary' baggage separation systems, but are
functionally similar.

 CBT Training is not there  CBT Training is there

14)List any five recommended techniques for physical search of a bag(REF Avsec circular 34/2005)

 Particular attention should be paid to the lining, rims, studs, zip fasteners,
locks, hinges, wheels and handles to identify signs of tampering or repair
which may indicate the concealment of a prohibited/dangerous article;
 The contents of the bag should be removed layer by layer, each being
examined until the bag is empty. The empty bag should then be lifted by
hand and assessed for balance and empty weight. If there is suspicion that
that the bag is not of uniform weight, or not of a weight consistent with being
empty, the bag itself should be examined for concealment of
prohibited/dangerous items, if necessary, it should be screened by X-Ray.
 Electrical items that might conceal a firearm, weapon or explosive device
(e.g. razors, calculators, radios, clocks, cameras, personal stereos and their
cassettes) should be examined to ensure they have not been tampered with,
or of the expected weight, are balanced and have no additional batteries. If
necessary, an item should be screened by X-Ray to ensure that it has no
additional power source or that there is no organic material within what
should be an inorganic shell.
 Articles such as vacuum flasks, books, umbrellas and crutches should be
examined in sufficient depth, by X-Ray, if necessary, to establish their
bonafides;
 Screener should examine for greasy stains and small holes in the exterior of
the case and for the smell of almonds, nail polish, glue, perfume or other
masking vapours, which might indicate the presence of explosives;
