Thank you for purchasing Image Sensor. Before using the Product, read the
User Manual carefully so that you can use it properly. The User Manual is for
instructions on how to use and maintain the product. The user manual is
delivered with the product to end users for the purpose of user instruction
only. Keep the manual with the product for the convenience of your

Chapter 1 Product Description

1.1 Scope

This User Manual is applicable to authorized end users.


The Manual describes the operation of the Image Sensor(the
Product)with standard configuration. If the items herein described are
not included in your purchased Product, just skip such contents.

1.2 Intended Use

Working together with an X-ray equipment, the Product is intended to


make X-ray radiography in veterinary clinics or research institutes.

1.3 Product Components

The product is mainly composed of a sensor, an adaptor, a USB connection


cable and workstation software. Other standard accessories include a box of
protective sheath, a silicon loop and a sensor holder.

1.4 Conventions and Symbols

The following symbols are used throughout this manual to provide


instructions on the effective use of this Product.

Chapter 2 Safety

2.1 Warning and Note

Note... 1. To use the Product effectively and avoid any


Product inefficiency, you’d better get
familiar with the operation of Windows
System first. Read the Manual carefully and
get familiar with the operation of the
workstation software. The following
warning, cautions and notes should be paid
special attention to during the Product
operation.
2. The pictures and interface figures are for
reference only.

WARNING! 1. If safety precautions are not followed


during the operation, test object safety
might be endangered. The
manufacturer is not responsible for the
damage from any misoperation.
2. The Product should be installed by
qualified engineers. Before making sure
that all the cables are correctly
installed, do not turn on the supply
power.
3. Before using the Product, you’d better
get related professional training and
read the User Manual carefully.
4. The Product is not for family use.

5. The examination and diagnosis by the
Product should be integrated with
research, and the result is only for
reference.
6. The Product cannot be used in
environment of flammable anesthetics
and air, or oxygen or nitrogen oxide
mixed air.
7. The sensor is IP67 water-proof, but the
adaptor is not water-proof. Do not use

8. the Product in places where water is apt


to flow in.
9. Do not clean or immerse the sensor with
disinfectant unauthorized by the
manufacturer.
10. To avoid cross-contamination,
disposable protective sheaths should be
used together with the Product.
11. Be aware of electric shock danger--do
not disconnect power supply with wet
hands. Make sure your hands are clean
and dry before touching the power line.
12. During the Product operation, do not
move the main accessories or the
sensor.
13. Only the accessories provided or
recommended by the Manufacturer can
be connected to the Product.
14. Prevent the ESD and EMI interference
from other devices.
15 Using the Product in the environment with
strong EMI source, such as electrosurgical
devices or MRI scanners, negative impact might
occur to the Product.

1. Before using the Product, make sure that the
Caution: connection cable and the sensor will not
cause safety problems to test object or
equipment damage. It is recommended that
regular inspect ion on whether the cable and
sensor will impose safety or equipment
damage problems. It is recommended that
the inspection be done once a week or at
shorter intervals. If any damage is founded,
we recommend changing the damaged
parts.
2. If the Product cable is lost, damaged or not
provided, the alternative should meet the
manufacture’s specifications and
requirements from local laws and
regulations.
3. The Product and its accessories should be
disposed of according to local laws and
regulations, or returned to the Manufacturer
or dealer for proper disposal.
4. Choose the cables of standard power to be
used as the grid power to reduce the
potential damage to the adapter.
5. Not a single accessory can be fixed by the
user. All maintenance should be done by
personnel authorized .

Note... To avoid damage to the Product, do not use it in the


following situations:
1. Places under direct sunlight;
2. Places of dramatic temperature changes;
3. Places full of dusts;
4. Places near heat sources;
5. Places with heavy humidity.

2.2 Environment Protection Requirements

When the Product or its accessories reach shelf time limit


Disposal of the Product and its accessories should meet related national
waste disposal requirements.

All the materials or assemblies that can be harmful to the environment


should be removed when the Product reaches its shelf time limit.

The manufacturer has designed the Product according to related safety


and environment requirements. If the cover of the Product has not been
torn off, or the Product has been correctly operated, then the Product
will not cause any damage to people or the environment.

When the materials that are harmful to the environment, are used with
the permission of laws and regulations, they should be handled properly.

WARNING!  Do not dispose of the waste from the Product


together with normal household waste.
 Dispose of the waste from the Product relating to
the local laws and regulations for environment
protection.
 Recyclable materials can be disposed of through
qualified waste disposal companies.

For WEEE materials related matters,contact the


manufacturer representatives or dispose of it according to
local requirements.

Chapter 3 Imaging Module

3.1 Brief Introduction

The imaging module consists of the following parts:

1. Digital sensor
2. Adaptor
3. Workstation software
The accessories of this product also include Protective Sheath and
Sensor Holder.

3.2 Functions of Components

3.2.1 Digital sensor


The Digital sensor is the key component for imaging. It converts the
X-ray signals into electrical signals that will be transmitted to the
acquisition workstation. The sensor is connected to the workstation via
the USB 2.0 connection. Before connecting the sensor, do not start the
acquisition workstation software. Do not disconnect the sensor during
the image acquisition process, otherwise the sensor can be damaged.

3.2.2 USB Connection Cable
The USB cable is used to connect the sensor and the acquisition
workstation. Before starting image acquisition, make sure that the
USB cable is well-connected on both ends.

3.2.3 Workstation Software


The workstation software receives the data from the sensor,
post-processes the received data, and generates images to
provide information for the diagnosis.

3.2.4 Adaptor
The adaptor provides power supply for the sensor and it also
transmits data from the sensor to the workstation.

To ensure the safety of test object and the performance of the


product, there are some other standard accessories packaged
together with the above mentioned components, including a box of
protective sheaths, a silicon loop and a sensor holder.

3.2.5 Protective Sheath


Before putting the Digital sensor into the test object’s mouth for
positioning, enclose it with a disposable protective sheath. Every
test object should use a new sheath to prevent
cross-contamination.

3.2.6 Sensor Holder
The holder is designed to provide a safe and secure storage
solution for the sensor.

3.3 Image Acquisition

The principles for general radiology should also be observed while using the
Image Sensor. The anatomy structure determines the position of the sensor..

3.3.1 Preparing the Sensor


To ensure maximum hygiene, cover the sensor with a disposable
protective sheath before using it.

Replace the disposable protective sheath for each test object.


Protective sheaths particularly designed for the sensors are
recommended to ensure the performance of the sensor. The sheaths
can be purchased from suppliers recommended by the manufacturer.

Use the dual USB cable to connect the adaptor and the image
acquisition workstation. When connected successfully, the light on the
adaptor turns green.

3.3.2 Positioning the Sensor


The Product does not include extra device for the positioning of the
sensor. The end user can buy a sensor positioning bracket or a sensor
holder, but none of this will meet all the positioning needs. How to
position the sensor depends on the test object’s dental structure, the
technician’s operation habit and the information needed.

3.3.3 Image Acquisition through the Workstation


After the test object has positioned the sensor according to the
directions or advice of the technician and the technician confirmed the
positioning, image acquisition can be made through the acquisition
software. Detailed information of Software Installation and Operation
guidance, refer to Software Installation and Operation Manual.

Chapter 5 Maintenance

5.1 Disinfection

To ensure the performance and shelf life of the Product, inspection and
maintenance should be made on a regular base. Refer to the
instructions about how to prepare the sensor, to ensure the safety and
hygiene of the test object.Maintenance should be made according to the
following requirements.

Note... The sensor provided by the manufacturer has not


been sterilized.Sterilize the sensor and keep it
clean. Follow the below instructions:
1. Use sensor protective sheaths.The
biocompatibility of the sheaths should be
compatible with the EN ISO
10993-1:2009/AC:2010 requirements. A new
sheath should be used for each test object.
2. The used disposable protective sheath should
be recycled or disposed properly to avoid
damage to the environment.
3. Choose the disinfectant recommended by the
manufacturer.
4. After imaging each test object, disinfect the
sensor thoroughly.Take off the protective
sheath, and clean the sensor with the
disinfectant.
5. If the protective sheath is damaged during the
imaging process, or the sensor gets dirty when
taken out from the sheath, then the sensor
should be disinfected thoroughly according to
the following requirements:
 Prepare the disinfectant according to user
manual . There should be no bleach or alcohol in
the disinfectant;

 Do not use the grinding tools to disinfect the
sensor or the cable;
 Use only the disinfectant recommended by
the manufacturer.
6. When using the disinfectant, refer to safety
procedures laid down by manufacturer.
7 If there is no mechanical damage, the cable can
be immersed in the disinfectant. If mechanical
damage is found on the cable, contact manufacturer
for technical support.
8 Before using it for the test object, clean the
sensor and several centimeters of the cable near
the sensor with the sterile solution. And always
keep the sensor away from the ground.

Caution: 1. Do not disinfect the sensor in the autoclave.


2. Do not immerse the cable connector into
liquid.

5.2 Cable Cleaning

In a clinical use environment, the health care provider should wear


protective disposable gloves and cover the Sensor with a hygienic
barrier. Before using the Sensor the first time, and before every new
patient, the following protocol is recommended:
 Remove and discard all protective hygienic barriers and / or sheaths
from the Sensor prior to removing disposable gloves.
 Place the Sensor on a tray covered by a disposable liner, or in a
receptacle that can be thoroughly cleaned.
 Remove and discard gloves.
 Wash hands and put on a new pair of disposable gloves.
 Disconnect Sensor from USB Interface.
 If the Sensor or cable are visibly soiled (e.g., with blood or saliva),
each should be cleaned with a soapy cloth or paper towel, and then dried

with a clean lint-free cloth or paper towel.
 Thoroughly spray or wipe the Sensor and cable with 75% ethanol. Do
not expose the Sensor cable connectors to any amount of liquid.
 If using a spray detergent, allow it to remain on the Sensor for 5
minutes. If using a liquid detergent, allow it to remain on the Sensor for
30 seconds.
 Repeat steps 7 and 8. When the Sensor has been sprayed or wiped
two times, continue with the following steps.
 Remove potential chemical build-up from the Sensor by wiping
it with a lap sponge saturated with de-ionized water.
 Use a dry lap sponge to dry the Sensor or cable, as needed.
 Place the Sensor in a clean environment, ready for next use.
 Reconnect the Sensor.
 Remove and discard gloves.

5.3 Sensor Storage

It is strongly recommended that the sensor should be put into the package
box or onto the sensor holder after each day of use, to prevent it from
falling down or getting dirty.

5.4 Sensor Maintenance

WARNING! 1. Refer to the following instructions to


prevent sensor damage.
2. To ensure product shelf life, follow the
below instructions:
 Do not put the sensor in the sterilizer or
in the autoclave.
 Do not pull the cable, even when
replacing the disposable protective
sheath.
 Do not grind or tramp the cable.
 Prevent the sensor from falling down.
 Prevent the test object from biting the
sensor or the cable.
 In non-synchronous mode or during the
acquisition process, do not disconnect
the sensor within 90 seconds.
 Do not use force on the sensor, or bend
or pull the cable.
 Do not immerse the sensor in liquid for a
long period of time.
3. After long time of frequent exposure, the
sensor might reach a temperature of 42
Celsius degree. If you find the sensor
temperature is too high during the
operation, stop the operation. Do not
restart until the sensor cools down.

5.5 Anti Static Electricity

To prevent static electricity, follow the below procedures:

When the sensor is not connected to the workstation, put it in the packaging
box.

Do not touch the monitor or the sensor at the same time, otherwise the sensor
might be seriously damaged.

Do not feel or touch the USB connector.

5.6 Computer Data Protection

Make a copy of the data for storage every day. Copy the data to some large
storage capacity medium for alternative use(copy to portable hard drives or
PACS)or ask the computer provider for advice, and store the data in a safe
place.

5.7 Maintenance of Key Components

1) Keep the key components clean. The key components can be cleaned by
using soft cloth after being dipped into clean water. If necessary, mild
detergent can be used and make sure that there is no detergent left on the
components. Make sure that there is no water permeating into the Product.

2) Put the key components in dry places of good ventilation, not in dusty or
damp places. And the cooling system of the ventilator should be of good
ventilation.

WARNING! Before cleaning the Product, disconnect the


power supply.

Caution: 1. Prevent any liquid spraying on the Product
during the cleaning.
2. Do not put the sensor in the autoclave,
otherwise the sensor would be damaged.
3. Do not immerse the cable connector into the
disinfectant solution.
4. Immerse part of the cable into the
disinfectant for better disinfection. But do not
immerse the adaptor into the solution.

Chapter 7 Trouble Shooting

If you find any problems during the imaging process, refer to the below
troubleshooting table for solutions. If the problem persists, contact
manufacturer for technical support. Never tear apart the sensor in any
circumstances.
