3) a) Find the remainder when x3 + 3x2 - 5x – 6 is divided by x + 3

b) Show that (x - 2) is a factor of x3 + 2x2 – 5x -6 and find the other two factors.

4) Obtain the binomial expansion of (2x – a)3 (5 marks)

5) Find the complex solutions of the equation x2 – 2x + 5 = 0. Give your answer
