7:30 AM- 8:00 AM INTRODUCTIONS AND OPENING
8:00 AM- 10:00 AM PRELIMINARY ROUND
10:00 AM- 10:10 AM BREAK
10:10 AM- 11:10 PM QUARTERS ROUND
11:10 AM- 11:20 AM BREAK
11:20 AM- 12:10 PM SEMI-FINALS ROUND
12:10 PM- 12:20 PM- BREAK
12:20 PM- 12:50 PM FINALS ROUND
◦TOPICS FOR THE PRELIMINARY ROUNDS WILL BE PRESENTED TO TEAMS
INDIVIDUALLY.
◦TOPICS FOR THE SEMI-FINAL AND FINAL ROUNDS WILL BE ANNOUNCED BEFOREHAND.
◦EACH TEAM MEMBER IS ALLOWED AN OPENING AND CLOSING STATEMENT OF 2
MINUTES.
◦JUDGES WILL POSE A QUESTION TO EACH TEAM BASED ON THEIR ARGUMENTS. (FINAL
ROUND)
TEAMS WILL BE QUESTIONED ONCE BY THEIR OPPONENT.
◦THERE WILL BE NO PREPARATION TIME FOR REBUTTALS.
◦TIME FOR REBUTTAL IS 1 MINUTE.
ANY DISCRIMINATORY, VULGAR, OR OFFENSIVE LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE
TOLERATED.
HATE SPEECH OR ANY SPEECH INCITING VIOLENCE, INCLUSIVE OF THE
ABOVE, WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
◦Each participant will be given points on a total of 20.
◦They will be judged based on:
1. Content- Quality and relevance of the arguments presented.
2. Delivery- Clarity, persuasive power, and fluency of the speaker.
3. Rebuttal- Ability to tackle counterarguments.
4. Strategy- Overall structure, organization, and approach to the subject.
◦Each basis holds 5 points.
Participants will be graded individually and the accrued points of both participants in
a team will result in a joint score on 40.
◦THE TEAM WITH THE HIGHEST ACCRUED POINTS WILL BE PRESENTED WITH THE
“CHAMPION TEAM” AWARD.
◦THE PARTICIPANT WITH THE HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL POINTS WILL RECEIVE
THE “BEST SPEAKER” AWARD.
