.‫ یستطیع المرشح اإلجابة بالترتیب الذي یناسبه دون االلتزام بترتیب المسائل الوارد في المسابقة‬-

I) )2.5 points)
Consider the three numbers A, B and C.

8 5 21 3.4×10−3 ×5×(102 )3 4−2√3

A= − × ; B= and C =
3 3 15 4×10−3 7+4√3

All the steps of calculation must be shown.

a) Calculate A and write the answer as a fraction in the simplest form.
b) Write B in scientific notation.
c) Rationalize C and write the answer in the form 𝑎 − 𝑏√3 where 𝑎 and 𝑏 are
two integers.

II) (4.5 points)

A- Given the polynomial A(x) = 5(2x – 1) – 2(x − 1)(2x – 1).
a) Expand, reduce and arrange A(x).
b) Factorize A(x).
c) Solve A(x) = 0.
B- Given the adjacent figure with x > 4.
 ABCD is a trapezoid with base AB = 4 cm
and CD = 6 cm.
 ADH is right triangle at H with DH = 2x – 2 and
AH = 2x – 1.
1) Let 𝐒 and 𝐒′ be respectively the areas of a trapezoid ABCD, and a triangle ADH.
a) Express 𝐒 and 𝐒′ in terms of x.
b) Determine x so that 𝐒 = 𝐒′.

1
𝐒
2) Let F(x) =
𝐒′

a) For what values of x, is F(x) defined?

b) Simplify F(x), then solve the equation F(x) = 1.

III) (3 points)
To buy five black pens and four red pens, we must pay 3250 L.L.
To buy two black pens and three red pens, we must pay 2000 L.L.
The preceding given are translated by the following system:
𝟓𝐱 + 𝟒𝐲 = 𝟑𝟐𝟓𝟎
{
𝟐𝐱 + 𝟑𝐲 = 𝟐𝟎𝟎𝟎
1) Is the ordered pair (1000; 2500) the solution of this system?
2) What do x and y represent in this system?
3) Solve the previous system, showing the details of the steps you follow, to
find the price of a black pen and the price of a red pen.

IV) (5.5 points)

Consider in an orthonormal system of axes 𝑥 ′ 𝑜𝑥 and 𝑦′𝑜𝑦 the points A(-4; 2) ,
B(-1; -1) and D(-1; 5).
1) Plot the points A, B and D.
2) a- Verify that an equation of the line (AB) is: 𝑦 = −𝑥 − 2.
b- Draw (AB).
3) (AB) cuts 𝑦′𝑜𝑦 in point H. Find the coordinates of H.
4) Calculate AB, AD and BD. Deduce the nature of triangle ABD.
5) Let (C) be the circle circumscribed about triangle about triangle ABD.
Calculate the coordinates of center I and the radius of this circle.
6) F is the symmetric of A with respect to I.
a) Find the coordinates of F.
b) Prove that ABFD is a square.
c) Show that F belong to (C).
d) Calculate the perimeter of ABFD.

2
V) (4.5 points)
In the adjacent figure,
 EFG is an isosceles triangle with vertex E.
 FG = 5cm and EG = 6cm.
 (C) is a circle of center O and diameter [EG]
intersects the segment [FG] at K.
1) Reproduce the figure.
2) a) Show that K is the midpoint of segment [FG].
b) Calculate EK.
3) Let S be the point on circle (C) such that SK = SH.
a) Prove that EKFH is a rectangle.
b) Prove that the points E, K, F and H are on the same circle whose center and
radius should be determined.
4) Let P be a point on segment [EG] distinct from O. The parallel through P to
(FG) intersects (EF) at R. Suppose that x is the length, expressed in cm, of segment
[EP].
a) What is the nature of triangle EPR? Justify your answer.
5𝑥
b) Prove that PR = .
6

5) Show that the triangle EFG is an enlargement of the triangle EPR when x = 4
and precise the center and ratio of this enlargement.
