PHILIPPINE ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS

2025 Community-oriented Primary care Contest

The Community oriented Primary Care Contest is an event of the Philippine


Academy of Family Physicians Inc. (PAFP) held during its Annual Convention. It is
designed to showcase initiatives that promote equitable access to quality health
care services, developed from the collaboration of Physicians and Community
stakeholders.

1. The Community oriented Primary care (COPC) Sub-committee

1.1 The COPC sub-committee is an ad hoc committee of the PAFP


Residency Committee that oversees the annual COPC contest. The
team is composed of active members, selected as representatives
from Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR. The COPC team is in-
charge of the mechanics and evaluation of submitted entries.

2. Mechanics for the COPC Contest


2.1 The contest is open to all PAFP-accredited residency training pro-
grams, Associate members, and Family & Community medicine
practitioners who are active members of PAFP.
2.2 Official entries from each chapter or training program shall be
evaluated on a regional level. Regional winners shall automatically
enter Pre-final. (7 in total). The seven Regional winners will be eval-
uated and only three (3) will enter the National contest.
2.2.1 Regional Contest
2.2.1.1 During regional competition, submitted entries shall be
in a written COPC report (Appendix A). This will be
screened and evaluated using the predetermined crite-
ria (Appendix B).
2.2.1.2 The PAFP Regional offices shall set the deadline of sub-
mission. (recommended is on or before November 4,
2024)
2.2.1.3 There shall be ONE winner for each of the seven regions
namely: Metro Manila, Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon,
West Visayas, East Visayas, West Mindanao and East
Mindanao. All winners will be notified through email, and
they will be awarded Certificate of Recognition.
2.2.1.4 All Regional winners shall be determined by December
16, 2024.
2.2.2 Pre-final Evaluation
2.2.2.1 The winning entries from seven Regions will be evalu-
ated by the COPC committee members.
2.2.2.2 The seven Regional winners shall be required to submit
A COPC report (appendix A) and a Visual Abstract /
ePoster on pdf or png. format thru this link: (google
form) ____
2.2.2.3 The electronic Poster or Visual Abstract shall contain the
following:
2.2.2.3.1Title of COPC project
2.2.2.3.2Introduction or Background
2.2.2.3.3Objectives
2.2.2.3.4Six (6) steps of COPC
2.2.2.3.5Conclusion and Recommendations
2.2.2.4 The electronic Poster or Visual Abstract will be evalu-
ated using a set of criteria (Appendix C).
2.2.2.5 Only the top three pre-finalists will enter the National
contest.
2.2.2.6 Finalists shall be determined by January 31, 2024. Final-
ists will be notified through email and or SMS messages.
2.2.3 National Finals
2.2.3.1 The selected COPC finalists shall have a live (on site)
presentation during the Annual Convention.
2.2.3.2 All finalists shall prepare an eight (8)-minute presenta-
tion using a background template that will be provided.
The report shall contain the following:

2.2.3.2.2Description of the Community
2.2.3.2.3Process of Problem Assessment and Prioritization
2.2.3.2.4Intervention Planning and Implementation
2.2.3.2.5Intervention Monitoring and Evaluation
2.2.3.2.6Conclusion
2.2.3.3 There will be 4 minutes of question and answer after
each presentation.
2.2.3.4 The finalists will be evaluated by a set of judges using
the predetermined set of criteria. (Appendix B).
2.2.3.4.1Three (3) FCM specialists shall comprise the panel of
Judges, who are actively involved in various commu-
nity-oriented primary care activities. Chairs of resi-
dency training as well as Residency training officers
shall not be invited as judges.
2.2.3.5 The highest ranked contestant will be the winner. In
case of a tie, the judges shall be required to recast their
votes. The decision of the judges shall be final and bind-
ing.
2.2.3.6 There shall be only ONE National Champion who will re-
ceive a cash prize of 10,000 pesos, a plaque and certifi-
cate.
2.2.3.7 Commendations to the other finalists will be cash prize
of 5,000 pesos each and certificates.
