Sample question- what did you do in your leisure time when you were child?
- I did several activities in my free time during my earlier age. First
of all, most of the time I played cricket. You know in our
subcontinent; cricket is an extremely popular game. Secondly, I read
several novels when I studied at class 7, as far as I could vividly
remember those. Moreover, I also did hear different sorts of domestic
and international music.

I heard = I also did hear

Show cause = কারণ দর্ার্

Hearing =
Technique 2 - explain why?
Why- because, since, as, due to the fact that, the reason behind that

Sample question:

Do you read a lot of books or do you prefer watching tv?

- I prefer reading books over enjoying random programs on
television. However, that does not mean that I hate watching

television. I like reading books more as/since/because

I always feel that reading is a far better than watching television.
Every book gives us the opportunity to learn
something new and the time spent on reading a
book is more constructive. I can’t say the same for the TV.
We often watch TV to kill our valuable time and end up surfing
through channels rather than watching something meaningful.

Technique 3- Real Life or fake any example- for instance,

for example, say for example, such as, like-

Sample question: have the mode of transport people use in your country
changed much over the last few decades?
Sample answer: absolutely, they have changed a lot. In the past, most
people used bicycles. But now they predominantly use motorbikes. For
example, a recent survey found that 42% of people in
my city now own a motorbike.
A recent survey, published by “Daily Star” in 2021, found
that……………৩২% of people in my city now own a motorbike.
Technique 4- make concessions/Double Standard - (িুই নিবকর

However, but, nevertheless, nonetheless, on the other hand, albeit, though,
in spite of/despite

1.***Comparison and contrast***

regarding time and age, - talk about the difference and/or similarities between two things.
Time: past + future, past + present, present+ future…
• It’s obvious that/ it certainly is that
• Another thing which should be focused/emphasized
• It’s really a tricky one, I didn’t think it before but from my point of view………
• I think- or,
I would like to express my biased opinion is that…….
• Well, I think that’s a really interesting question, but I never thought about it before. I

guess I’d have to say that I agree……………

• Well let me clarify that by pointing out …..….
• Another way to put it is…….

Degree-comparative degree -
Example question: do
you think primary school children should learn a
second language or should they wait until secondary school?
Answer- it’s obvious that the earlier children start a language, the
easier it becomes in later life. However, some parents might think
that subjects like math are more important than languages at
primary level. They may also think that a foreign language is less
important than their first language and this should be prioritized.

2. Opinion -
• as I see it,
• Personally,
• For me,
• In my opinion,
• I’m convinced that
• I’m certain that…
• I’m sure that…
• I do believe…
• I guess that…
• I suppose that….
• I’d say that…

Sample question: what are some of the ways people can help others in
the community/society?

Answer- as
I see it, there are many ways one can help
the needy, but the best way is by making charitable donations. I’d
say that/in my opinion, people can choose a charity and simply donate a
sum of money and leave it to them to help others in need. For example, I
recently gave money to an orphanage. I don’t have time to help them
personally, so I just leave it up to them to use the money as they see
it/fix.
3. Predict/future
It is predicted that ……….
It intends to ……

I foresee - ভনেেযৎ োিী করা…

It is foreseeable…
Conditional - present (if + present indefinite + future indefinite)
It is likely that ...
It is probable that…
It is unforeseeable that…
I envisage… (নেবেেিা করা)

Example question: Some

people say that working from home will
be quite common in the future. What do you think?
Answer- itis foreseeable that more people will work from home in the
future. If the internet becomes faster and there are more programs such
as zoom/google meet/skype, that allow people to work from home more
easily. I’d predict that more people will stay at home.

Future Perfect Tense- By + Time থাকবল Future Perfect Tense হে

- By the grace of Almighty Allah, by 2028, I will have been
citizen in Canada.

4. Evaluate
Idea/opinion clearly েলবে হবে
+ agree/disagree এর আপনি তকািটার পবে, তেটাও েলবে হবে ।
Linking words if you agree with your opinion/evaluation:
I could agree with you more….

That’s so true…...
That’s for sure……

No doubt about that……

I suppose so/I guess so…...

You/they have a point there……

Linking words if you DON’T agree with your opinion/evaluation:

I don’t think so….

I’m afraid I do disagree…

I totally disagree……

I beg to differ…..

I’d say the exact opposite…

Not necessarily…

That’s not always true…

That’s not always the case……

Sample question: some people say that people helped others more
in the past than they do now. Do you agree or disagree?
Sample answer: I don’t think so. When it comes to my parent’s generation, I
think that they are quite skeptical/doubting about helping other people in
the community, but my generations are regularly doing things to improve
it, such as volunteering for various environmental and charitable

organizations such as blood donation.

5. Hypothetical

unreal, imaginary, unlikely or impossible

present conditional - if you come, I will give you a surprise.
Past conditional - if + past indefinite tense+ past conditional.

(sub + should/could/would/might+ verb 1st + extension/object)

If you came, I would give you a surprise

Past perfect conditional – if you had come, I would have given you a
surprise.
Sample question: if you could choose any country to live in, where
would you choose?
Answer: if I could live in any country, I would probably choose Australia/UK/
Canada/USA. The weather of CANADA is great; the people are super friendly and just
imagine living beside all those sea beaches. If I could choose another country, it would
have to be Italy.

6. Past
used to + verb 1st
Subject + am/is/are/was/were/get + used to + verb (ing)
Or, would+ infinitive েযেহার কবর past এর অভযাে নিবে কথা েলা যাে ।

Simple past/past indefinite- Past continuous- Past perfect -

Example: howhad teaching changed in your country over the past

few decades?
Answer: In the past, teachers simply lectured students and the students just listened
to what they said. We were given/teachers used to give us lots of facts to learn and
there was no room for creativity or freedom of expression. I would remember
learning lots of things without the theory behind it. However, recent studies have
developed a lot and students are learning more compared to previous.

7. Cause and effect or solution

Linking phrase- because,
As a result,
Resulted in… Due to…
Caused .. Led to…
Means that..,.

Question: how does advertising influence what people choose to buy?

Answer- I do think that advertising has a big influence on what people
purchase and often leads to them always sticking with the same brand. For
example, I always drink coca cola and I believe this is because I grew up watching
all those ads on TV and I instinctively buy it as a result.
