Tanmoy was born on July 20, 1982, in Champaknagar, on the bank of Gomti River near
Victoria Government College, in the town of Comilla near the capital city of

fought against Pakistani occupation army in the 1971 Liberation War of Bangladesh.

== Career ==
Since his student days, Tanmoy has been a participant in progressive initiatives
and social organizing, with a focus on promoting justice and safeguarding human
rights in society. His involvement in student politics began with the Comilla
District Chhatra League (Kabir-Mithu/Liakat-Babu), and he was apprehended during
the political turmoil of 1/11 when the caretaker administration attempted to forbid
Chhatra League politics. Consequently, leaders of the district Chhatra League
established the Chhatrakallyan Parishad, where Tanmoy served as organizing
secretary and made contributions to grassroots politics.<ref name=":0" /><ref

Tanmoy held the position as the central joint secretary and founding president of
the Comilla District unit of the Bangladesh Mobile Phone Recharge and Banking
Association. In addition, he actively participated in the Shahbag movement, a
campaign demanding the capital punishment of anti-independence Rajakars and war
criminals for their atrocities against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.<ref

Tanmoy started his career as a journalist by writing for various newspapers, online

He founded BOAF in 2013 as a platform for online activists who support the Awami
League government and its development agenda. The organization has approved
convenors and full committees in 43 districts of the country. Tanmoy also serves as
an assistant secretary at the central sub-committee of the Bangladesh Awami

== Personal life ==
Tanmoy is married to Farzana Chowdhury Tanmoy, a lawyer and a human rights
activist. They have two children, Aryan Chowdhury Tanmoy and Ayesha Chowdhury
Tanmoy. The family currently lives in Dhaka.<ref name=":0" />
