Introduction
To benefit from next generation computer technology, Cimatron’s software graphics infrastructure
has been enhanced to take advantage of newer OpenGL technology. As a result, Cimatron 2024
requires a graphics card supporting OpenGL version 3.3 or higher.

How do I know if my graphics card is compatible with


Cimatron?
The system automatically examines your graphics card before installation. However, you can also
manually invoke this function from one of the following locations:

1. From the Cimatron installation autorun window, select Administrative Tools. Then click Run
(adjacent to Graphics Card Test).

2. From the Cimatron Control Panel, select the Utilities tab and click Graphics Card Test.

The Graphics Card Test will examine your card and display a message informing you if your
card is compatible or not.

My graphics card is not compatible with Cimatron.


What do I do?
First, we recommend updating the driver for your graphics card. If there is an updated driver
available, download the driver and then run the installation or graphics card test again. If you need
assistance, contact your system administrator or your local Cimatron distributor.

If you still require assistance and you have more than one graphics card, see the next section.

If you have one graphics card and still require assistance, click the Save log file button on the
message informing you the card is not compatible and send the log file to your local Cimatron
distributor for further assistance.

May 2020 (20H1) update
Locate the Graphics Card Test.exe file that is included with the Cimatron installation media. Right-
click the file to display the following options that allow you to select the graphics card to use for the
test. Select the higher performing graphics card of the two.

If the test fails on all cards, click the Save log file button on the message informing you the card is not
compatible with Cimatron and send the log file to your local Cimatron distibutor for further
assistance.

Instructions for Microsoft Windows 10 May 2020 (20H1) and


succeeding versions
Beginning with the Windows 10 May 2020 (20H1) update, the process for selecting a graphics
processor for an application has changed. Windows no longer provides the Run with Graphics
Processor option that was available in the previous versions of Windows.

Windows 10 now ignores the preferred graphics processor settings configured in the NVIDIA Control
Panel (via Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings > Program Settings) and requires you to perform a
separate process to override Windows’ automatic graphics processor selection.

To force Windows to select a particular NVIDIA graphics processor for Cimatron, peform the
following:

1. Press the Windows key and the I key together (Windows + I) to invoke the Windows
Settings dialog.

2. Select System > Display.

3. Select Graphics (you may have to scroll down to select this option).

4. In the Custom options for apps section, select Desktop app and then browse to the location
of the Cimatron executable file and select it. (…Program

After the Cimatron executable file is selected, CimatronE.EXE will appear in the dialog. Click
Options.

5. The Graphics preference dialog will appear. Select High performance and click Save.

My card passed the graphics card test, but


Cimatron does not run. What do I need to do?
Open the Cimatron Control Panel, select the Utilities tab, and click Collect My Cimatron Data. Send
the generated ZIP file to your local Cimatron distributor for further assistance.
