Course Code: LAW-3502
Course Title : CrPC 1

Course Objectives:

The objectives of this course titled of CrPC 1 is to make the students understand the
fundamental laws of the land , to enable them of conceiving the depth of the Topics , compare
and contrast this law with other Laws so that they can apply their knowledge in the future
workfield.

Learning Outcomes:

After completion of the course students are expected to learn and be capable to :

 Read and write communicable, effective and conventional English.


 To maintain proper notes, written reports so that the can Prepare assignment in their
future jobs.
 Analyse their constructive thinking in reading and interpretation of legal materials
( Statutes, Court decisions ).
 Understand the Legal terms.
 Earn a basic knowledge of procedural rules, evidentiary rules and understand the
relationship between procedural rules and substantive laws.
 Have a clear concept of relation between Constitutional Law and law of Confession ,
Search, Seizure, Assistance of Counsel.
 Have a thorough knowledge of crime scene investigation and demonstration a knowledge
of forensics by law enforcement agencies used in criminal investigations.
 Have a knowledge in preparation of memorandums , substantive legal documents and
litigation documents .
 Conduct research on legal topics .

Course Contents:
Definitions, Constitution of Criminal Courts, Jurisdiction and power of criminal courts. Aid and
information to the Magistrates, the police and persons making arrests, Arrest generally, arrest
without warrant. Process to compel appearance: Summons. Warrant of arrest, proclamation and
attachment, other rules regarding processes, Summons to produce search warrant, general
provisions relating to searches. Security for keeping the peace and for good behavior.Unlawful
assemblies. Public nuisances, temporary orders in urgent cases of nuisance or apprehended
danger. Dispute as to immoveable properties. Preventive action of the police. Information,
investigation and inquiry, place of inquiry or trial. Complaint to Magistrate. Commencement of
proceedings before Magistrate.

Course Policies:

Class Makeup: In case of unavoidable circumstances if a course meeting, lecture or exam, needs
to be cancelled; students will be offered a makeup. All makeup classes will be held at the
rescheduling time suggested by the registrar’s office or course teacher.
Exam Makeup: There will be no makeup of any exam, if the faculty is not informed in writing
prior to the event. Extreme situations will be an exception as per faculty’s decision.
Academic Honesty: Any academic misconduct will result in an “F” grade for the course. There
will be no exception.
Office Hour: There is a set office hour and consultation hour for the students’ convenience.
However, students are most welcome to make appointment for any other time or day.
Conduct: Please consult the NEUB student code of conduct and guidelines offered by registrar’s
office.
