UNIT – I
1 (a) State and explain how superposition theorem is applied for solving the network with suitable
example.
(b) Explain the following: (i) Real power. (ii) Reactive power. (iii) Apparent power.
OR
2 (a) State and explain the Kirchhoff’s current and voltage laws.
(b) A circuit consists of 25 ohm and a capacitance of 5 𝜇𝜇𝐹𝐹 connected in series. If an A.C voltage of
200 V (rms), 50 Hz is applied across the circuit, find the input current, power factor, real power
and reactive power flow in the coil.
UNIT – II
3 (a) Derive an EMF equation of DC generator.
(b) Explain the working principle of a single phase transformer.
OR
4 (a) Explain the working principle of a DC motor.
(b) Explain the principle of operation of 3-phase induction motor.
UNIT – III
5 With neat layout diagram, explain the working of thermal power station.
OR
6 Explain in detail about primary and secondary distribution systems.

UNIT – I
7 (a) With neat circuit diagram, explain the V-I characteristics of PN junction diode in forward bias
condition.
(b) What is an amplifier? With a neat circuit diagram, explain the operation of CE amplifier.
OR
8 (a) What is a rectifier? Explain about Half wave rectifier without filter and also derive the expression
for its ripple factor.
(b) Compare the CE, CB and CC transistor configurations.
UNIT – II
9 (a) Define the following terms with respect to operation amplifier: (i) CMRR. (ii) PSRR. (iii) Slew rate.
(b) Draw the circuit diagram of voltage follower using op-amp and explain its operation.

10 (a) Mention the characteristics of an ideal and practical operational amplifier.
(b) With a neat circuit diagram, explain the working principle of an ideal integrator.
UNIT – III
11 (a) What are universal gates? Realize XOR gate using universal gates.
(b) Distinguish between combinational and sequential logic circuits?
OR
12 (a) Implement the following function using NAND gates: F(A,B,C) = A(B+C).
(b) List the applications of shift registers.
