Course Description:
This course covers basic concepts of plane analytic geometry, limits and continuity, derivatives, definite integral and their applications in the field of
environmental science.
Program Outcomes:
1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the specific field of practice (PQF level of descriptor).
2. Effectively communicate orally in writing using both in English and Filipino;
3. Work effectively and independently in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams (PQF level 6 descriptor);
4. Act in recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibilities;
5. Preserve and promote “Filipino historical and cultural heritage” (based on RA 7722);
6. Generate and share knowledge relevant to specific fields in the study of agriculture;
7. Formulate and implement agricultural development plans and programs;
8. Apply the scientific methods in knowledge application;
9. Understand the concepts of agricultural productivity and sustainability in the context of national, regional, and global developments;
10. Engage in agricultural production and post-production activities;
11. Promote sound agricultural technologies to various clients and in the manpower development for agriculture; and
Employ relevant tools in information technology in solving agriculture-related problems
Course Code:

1. Determine the existence of, estimate numerically and graphically, and find algebraically the / / / / /
limits of functions.
2. Recognize and determine infinite limits and limits at infinity and interpret with / / / / /
respect to asymptotic behavior
3. Determine continuity at a point or at intervals and distinguish between discontinuities at a / / / / /
point
4. Determine the derivative of a function using the limit definition. Interpret the derivative as a
slope of the tangent line to a graph, the slope of a graph at a point, and the rate of change / / / / /
of a dependent variable with respect to an independent variable.
5. Determine the derivative and higher derivatives of a function explicitly using derivative / / / / /
formulas.
6. Determine derivatives implicitly / / / / /
7. Solve related rate problems / / / / /
8. Determine absolute extrema for continuous function on a closed interval. Use these and / / / / /
other appropriate techniques to solve optimization problems.
9. Use the first and second derivatives to analyze and sketch the graph of a function, including
asymptotes, intervals on which the graph is increasing, decreasing, concave up or concave / / / / /
down, and any local extrema or inflection points
10. Determine antiderivatives and indefinite integrals and integrate by substitution / / / / /
