Subject: Proposal for the Creation of Sports-Oriented Section: Grade 7-

BONIFACIO at San Jose National High School

I. Introduction

In alignment with the Department of Education’s thrust toward holistic

development and the school’s mission of nurturing students with diverse talents,
San Jose National High School seeks to establish a sports-oriented section,
named Grade 7-BONIFACIO. This proposal aims to formalize the creation of a
section composed exclusively of Grade 7 students who are experienced and
aspiring athletes. This special section will remain a block section until Grade 10,
with the objective of ensuring continuous improvement, specialized training, and
sustained progress in their chosen sports fields.

II. Objectives

The Grade 7-BONIFACIO section is being proposed to achieve the following

objectives:

1. Develop Athletic Skills: Provide a platform for experienced and aspiring

student-athletes to enhance their athletic abilities through specialized
sports programs, training, and opportunities to compete.
2. Promote Academic Excellence: Balance academic instruction with
athletic training, emphasizing the value of academic success alongside
sports achievements.
3. Foster Long-Term Development: Ensure consistent growth by offering
a block section that will remain intact from Grade 7 to Grade 10,
promoting team cohesion and long-term athletic development.
4. Monitor and Evaluate Performance: Implement a yearly monitoring
and evaluation system to track students' athletic and academic progress,
ensuring the effectiveness of the program and enabling adjustments as
necessary.
5. Provide Pathways for Career Development in Sports: Establish a
strong foundation for students to pursue higher-level sports competitions,
including participation in division, regional, and national tournaments, and
eventually higher education in sports-related fields.

III. Rationale

San Jose National High School has a long-standing tradition of excellence in

sports, with many students actively participating in various sports leagues, both
locally and regionally. However, there is currently no formalized structure to
support the continuous and systematic development of student-athletes from
their early years. The creation of Grade 7-BONIFACIO will address this gap by
offering:

1. Structured Development: By creating a dedicated section, the school

will be able to structure training schedules, organize special classes with
trained coaches, and provide resources tailored to student-athletes.
2. Maximized Potential: By concentrating the school’s best athletes in one
section, the program will foster a competitive yet collaborative
environment that pushes students to excel in both academics and sports.
3. Focus on Both Sports and Education: The block section will help
balance academic rigor with intensive sports training, ensuring that
student-athletes do not compromise their academic achievements.

IV. Structure and Implementation

1. Selection Process
The Grade 7-BONIFACIO section will be composed of students who show
strong potential or existing skills in sports. The selection process will
involve the following:
o Students may apply or be nominated by coaches or teachers.
o Selection criteria will include athletic performance, commitment to
sports, and academic standing.
o Tryouts will be conducted for various sports disciplines (e.g.,
basketball, volleyball, badminton, athletics) to assess skill levels.
2. Sports and Academic Curriculum
The PE classes for Grade 7-BONIFACIO will be designed to meet both
DepEd’s academic standards and the needs of student-athletes:
o Specialized physical education classes and sports science will be
integrated into the sports subject.
o Sports coaches will coordinate with teachers to ensure that students
are given the appropriate balance between their academic and
athletic workloads.
3. Training Program
o Daily and Weekly Training: Athletes will undergo daily training
sessions with qualified coaches. Each week, specific sports will be
assigned training hours, with a focus on individual skill-building and
teamwork.

oSeasonal Competitions: The students will participate in local,

divisional, and regional sports competitions. During these periods,
athletes will be given extended training sessions to prepare.
4. Monitoring and Evaluation
o Annual Evaluations: At the end of each academic year, athletes’
progress in their respective sports will be evaluated based on
performance metrics, skills improvement, and competition results.
o Academic Monitoring: Continuous assessment of academic
performance will be conducted to ensure students meet the school’s
academic requirements.
o Feedback Mechanism: Parents, coaches, and academic staff will
collaborate to provide continuous feedback on students'
performance and well-being.
5. Support and Facilities
o Grade 7-SILANG will have access to the school’s sports facilities for
regular practice and training.
o The school will also seek partnerships with local organizations and
government units to provide additional support, resources, and
opportunities for student-athletes, such as sponsorships,
scholarships, and training workshops.

V. Sustainability Measures

The school will ensure the sustainability of this program through:

 Annual Recruitment: Every school year, new Grade 7 athletes will be

recruited to continue the sports program and maintain a steady influx of
talent.
 Sponsorships and Partnerships: The school will actively seek
partnerships with local businesses, sports organizations, and government
agencies to provide financial and logistical support for the program.
 Coaching Development: Continuous professional development for
coaches will be provided to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest
trends in sports training and development.
 Community Engagement: Parent and community support will be
fostered through regular updates, meetings, and involvement in school
events related to sports development.

The creation of the Grade 7-BONIFACIO sports section will provide a unique
opportunity for San Jose National High School to nurture its student-athletes in a
holistic, structured, and sustainable manner. Through this initiative, the school
will not only continue to excel in athletic competitions but also foster students’
academic and personal growth. By investing in the talents and potential of our
athletes, we are investing in the future of San Jose National High School as a
center of excellence in both sports and education.
