Find the maximum deflection stress for the cantilever beam,
Assume rectangular cross section area 0.4x0.6 m, young’s modulus 210
GPA, Poisson’s ratio 0.27. Load acting on the beam is 5KN
SOLUTION:
To solve the maximum deflection stress by using of ANSYS
WORKBENCH.
PROCEDURE:
STEP 1: START AN ANSYS WORKBENCH PROJECT
In the drop down menu select the engineering data to change the
value of young’s modulus = 210 Gpa, Poisson’s ratio = 0.27.

STEP 3: GEOMETRY:
Open geometry and right click and then select the new design
modular geometry.
To draw the line diagram.
Select the XY plane and go to sketching, select rectangle tool in draw
option.
Draw rectangle and change the dimensions of rectangle from the
modify option in the sketching toolbox.
In general, select dimension of horizontal(H1) and vertical
directions(V2) of the rectangle.
Enter the dimension of the cantilever in the detail view tool bar
H1=0.4m and V2 = 0.6m.
After completing the line diagram click generate.
To define the length of the cantilever click on the extrude option and
apply the geometry to the element.
Define depth of the beam 7m and click generate and close the window.
