13. A resistor and a capacitor are in series with a variable inductor. When the circuit is connected to a
200 V, 50 Hz supply, the maximum current obtainable by varying the inductance is 0·314 A, the
voltage across the capacitor is then 300 V. Find the value of circuit elements.
(b) Define voltage regulation and derive expression of voltage regulation for a lagging power
factor load.

a) Explain, Double revolving field theory as applied to single phase induction motor? Also explain
any one method of starting the motor.
b) Why three phase synchronous motor is not self-starting? Explain any one method of starting
this motor?
a) What is the need of earthing. Also discuss any one method of earthing in detail.
b) (i) Write short note on Li-ion Battery.
(ii) A battery has taken charging current of 6.3A for 24 hours at a voltage 2.1 V, while
discharging it gave a current of 4.5A for 24 hour at an average voltage of 1.35 V. Calculate
watt hour efficiency of the battery.
Calculate the energy consumption per day in a house using 6 tube lights of 20W each, 2 fans
of 80W each and 4 CFLs of 10W each for 6hours a day.
