38. You must have heard people talking about some sudden actions in response
to something in the environment. For example I was so hungry that my
mouth started watering on seeing my favourite food' or Ipulled my hand back

What is the common idea in allthese examples? This indicates that we do
something without thinking about it or without feeling in control of our
reactions. Then how is control and coordination achieved in such situations?

39. Adi holds a mirror in his hand and directs its reflecting surface towards the
sun. Then he directs the light reflected by the mirror on a sheet of paper
held close to the mirror. While moving the sheet of paper back and forth
gradually, he finds on the paper sheet a bright, sharp spot of light and held
it for some more time in the same position.The paper starts burning.
