Horror stories

complied

I heard a loud sound, and then I saw a man collapse in front of me, blood everywhere. As I rushed to
help him, I felt a wet trickle down my neck, and I realized that I was the one who had been shot.

- I looked at my mother, her eyes closed and a serene expression on her face, pleased that she would be
with me always. The chest freezer was getting installed today, and it was about time, because it had
been over a week since my mother slit her throat, and the stench was getting unbearable.

- As I walked back home one chilly night with my husband from our anniversary dinner, snuggling close
to him for warmth, a frail old man approached us. He said, "Madam, you shouldn't be out alone so late
in the night.".

- My best friend died in a motorcycle accident a year ago. It's a good thing that looking at innards does
not revolt me, because he still visits me sometimes.

- As I walk home alone from a party late at night, the soft, rhythmic crunch of the autumn leaves
beneath my feet is a source of comfort. I pause to catch my breath, but I can still hear the steady crunch
of leaves.

"We thank you Lord for the food at this table", said my host and turned to me with a smile. There was
nothing on the table.

EDIT: I got totally obsessed with this and came up with a few more.

 No one seemed to notice the old man in the street corner. As I walked up to him, he smiled and
replied "Dad, you came!"

 "Welcome to your new house" announced the agent as he handed me the keys and left.
"Welcome, indeed" said the soft echo

 I sat enthralled watching the movie alone at home, when the child on screen turned to me and
asked for the popcorn

 I saw her at the same grave every week. As I searched for her today, a soft whisper behind me
said "I'm sorry"

When I showed my four year old daughter her photograph for the first time, she shook her head and
said "But daddy, I look different in the mirror - with black hair, blue eyes and a tiny mole on the right
cheek "
She was describing my little sister who had suffocated to death in the attic while playing hide and seek
with me.

I whispered to my sweet infant daughter while I held her under the icy cold water of the holy Ganges,
"Don't worry my princess: drowning is like going home for this world does not belong to you."

The next day while washing off my sins in the same river, I felt a tiny little hand clutch me and drag me
down deeper, still deeper and the last voice I heard was like the waves whispering in my ear,"You
lied !!!, It was agony."

As you turn to see who pelted you with a snowball, you see a girl chanting,
"I hit you once, I hit you twice, once with a snowball, once with a knife;
I hit you once, I hit you twice, once in a dream, once in real life."

You then wake up.

You feel incredibly tired yet peaceful as you lie in your bed, looking up at her lovely face, wet with tears,
when slowly, a doctor appears behind her and says "It has been 15 years since he's been in the coma
now. Its time to pull the plug."

About 7 years ago I got an invitation to attend my cousins dinner party. I have never seen my cousin
before and only spoke to him on the phone. I was surprised that his family unexpectedly invited me after
all these years.

The invitation had an uncharted address that the GPS was unfamiliar with. I used a map and pinned its
location.

As I'm driving I tend to notice how far I ventured off from civilization. Trees after trees, farms after
farms. "Where the fuck am I going?"

I finally found a similar address that might be it. Approaching the house I notice how dull and dreary it
looks. It's completely engulfed with leaves and branches. "This can't be it." I said to myself.

As soon as I entered the rocky driveway my aunt and uncle came out to greet me. They seemed excited
and welcoming. Walking in to the house I asked where my cousin is. Answering immediately, "he went
to run a few errands he should be back later."

We spent the whole couple of hours talking about my mother and family. My aunt made delicious home
made pot roast that I finished off in minutes. After dinner we played an enduring game of uno. It was
surprisingly fun and competitive.
When we finished uno it was almost dark and still no sign of my cousin. Regardless, I had to leave. It was
almost dark and I would have trouble getting out of this dreadful place. My GPS was ineffective so I
asked my aunt and uncle the most efficient way onto the highway.

They gave me a puzzled look. " I thought you were staying the night?"I told them I couldn't because I
had work tommorow and couldn't afford to miss another day. "It's much better if you leave tommorow
morning, trust me you'll get lost."

I shrugged it off and told them not to worry, I'm an adept navigator. I could get out the Sahara desert.

Looking aggravated, they strongly advised me to stay the night for my own sake. At this point I was
getting pissed and irritable.

I sighed, fine I'll stay the night but I have to get up early for work. Both of them seemed strangely
ecstatic that I was staying the night. As soon as they went to go get my bed sheets and pillows, I ran out
the door and got in my car. I hastily pulled out the driveway.

It took me a while but I found my way out that depressing place. I got home an hour later than
expected. It was 11 and I didn't want to wake my parents up. Climbing my fence and entering the back
door I noticed the kitchen lights were on.

As soon I took my first step in the door I see my mom sitting there looking impatient.

"Where were you ?" She asked.

"I was at aunt Debra's, you knew this."

"Then why did she call saying you never arrived ?"

Til this day I never knew who I visited.
