Instructions for Inbound Mobility Application


Exchange students must have completed at least one
semester at their home university at the time of participation
Program Eligibility
in this program and their GPA should be over 2.5 out of 4.0 (or
equivalent).
English
For taking classes taught in English, at least one of the following
criteria should be met:
➢ IELTS - overall band score of at least 6.0
➢ TOEFL
a) TOEFL ITP or PBT - 550 or higher
b) computer-based (CBT) - 213 or higher
c) internet-based (iBT) - 80 or higher
➢ TOEIC - 750 or higher
➢ Letter from a university professor familiar both with the
expected standards of an English-medium university
program and with the student's ability to perform in an
English-medium academic atmosphere.

Korean
Language Proficiency For taking classes taught in Korean one of the following should be
met:
➢ TOPIK 3+
➢ KLAT 150+ (B2)
➢ 15 hours (4-5 classes) of university-level Korean language
courses (e.g., Korean 101, 102, 201, 202,
301)
➢ HUFS Intensive Korean Program Level 4 Certificate
➢ Letter from a university professor familiar both with the
expected standards of a Korean-medium university
program and with the student's ability to perform in a
Korean-medium academic atmosphere.
➢ No requirements for taking Intensive Korean

* All dormitory applicants must send in a scanned copy of a


completed Health Examination Form signed by a licensed
doctor/clinician to reserve dormitory. They must also present the
original copy as they check-in at HUFS dormitory.

The following documents will be sent via email
to each student.

D-2-6 VISA (Exchange Student Visa) or D-2-8 (Visiting Student Visa)

Visa Process is REQUIRED before entering Korea.

(REQUIRED) Students can obtain visa at nearest Korean Embassy with the
admission package.
Exchange students or their parents/guardians are responsible for the
cost of any medical treatment should it arise during their stay in Korea
and HUFS.

Students should bring comprehensive travel and medical insurance

Health Insurance before coming to Korea and verify that the insurance policy they carry

(REQUIRED) covers hospitalization and medical care occurring during international


travel and sojourns, as well as repatriation to their home country in
any case of medical emergency.

Additionally, starting Spring 2021, a new law requires all exchange


students to register and pay for the National Health Insurance plan in
Korea. This is a monthly payment that helps medical and health
expenses and services in Korea.

Academic Life at HUFS

Exchange students can take diverse courses from different faculty if


they meet the language and pre- requisite requirements. However,
some restrictions do apply:

* We are experiencing a high demand for some areas of the courses,
especially in the Business Department. This means students must
be aware that it may be very difficult to register for these courses =
and there will be No Guarantee for their preferred choices.
* It is student’s responsibility to make a backup plan (plan B) or
find alternative courses when they make their course plan.

Housing Double occupancy dormitory (on and off campus dormitory)

Intensive Korean (200 hours): The Intensive Korean Program is a


non-credit, certificate-only course offered by the Center for Korean
Language and Culture. The program aims to help learners build the
basic foundations to high level skills in the Korean language
through a strict curriculum that focuses more on the technical
components and accuracy of the Korean language. It is divided into
different levels and runs on a fixed schedule from Monday to
Friday. Classes are held for 4 hours within a 10 week time frame.
Students are required to attend 40 days of the whole program, as
well as pass the final language exam.
Conditions:
- Fully waived for students majoring/minoring in Korean/Asian

studies during regular semester
- Partially waived(50%) for students majoring in all field

Practical Korean (30 hours): Practical Korean is a non-credit,


certificate-only course that acts as an excellent stepping stone into
learning the Korean Language. It is an introductory level Korean
language program that aims to help students build a strong
foundation in learning the complexity of the Korean language whilst
building familiarity with common language and topics. There is no
ideal language level required by students so it is welcoming to all.
Conditions:
- Fully waived for all students

Currency at HUFS Korean WON (USD $1 = approximately 1,300 Won)
