CASE BASED QUESTIONS
19.The orthocentre and centroid are two points related to a triangle. Orthocentre is a point
where the altitudes of a triangle meet and its position depends on the type of triangle .For
example ,in an acute triangle , the orthocentre is inside ,but in an Obtuse triangle, it is
outside. The centroid, however, is a point where the medians of a triangle meet.It always
lies inside the triangle.
A triangle has sides whose equations are given by 3x-4y=0 ; 12y+5x =0 ; y-15=0

Based on the information answer the following:

1. Find the vertices of this triangle and its Centroid.


2. Find the Orthocentre of triangle

20.The general equation of a straight line is ax +by +c= 0 where a,b and c are constants.
There are only two unknowns in the equation: a and b. Thus, to determine a line we
need two conditions to determine two unknowns.
A perpendicular is drawn from the point P ( 4,5) on the line segment joining A(6,5)and
B(2,-1)
Based on the information answer the following:

(i) Find the ratio in which perpendicular from P divides AB


(ii) Find the equation of line drawn from P through AB
