My thesis examines the effect of social media sustainability on the performance and
survival of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Cotabato City. It seeks to
analyze how social media contributes to financial and non-financial performance,
business survival, and overall sustainability, incorporating aspects such as innovation,
adaptability, and risk management.
The growing role of social media as a tool for business sustainability inspired this study.
SMEs, which constitute a significant part of the global economy, face numerous
challenges in adapting to social, economic, and environmental demands. Recognizing

I will employ a quantitative research design using a descriptive survey method. This
approach enables the measurement of relationships between social media
sustainability and SME performance and survival.
The respondents will include managers or owners of SMEs in Cotabato City, selected
across different industries. A total of 30 SMEs will participate, representing a diverse
sample from the region.
Data will be gathered through survey questionnaires, distributed digitally via platforms
like Google Forms. The questionnaire will include items adapted from validated studies
on the impact of social media sustainability. Follow-ups and reminders will ensure
sufficient response rates.
Yes, the study is both timely and useful. With the increasing reliance on digital tools,
especially in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, understanding how social media
impacts SMEs is critical. The findings will provide actionable insights for business
owners, policymakers, and future researchers to enhance the sustainability and
competitiveness of SMEs in a rapidly evolving market environment.
