Locking Assemblies Bending Loads
Introduction
Keyless shaft-hub locking devices have been the cornerstone of
the RINGFEDER®. For over 90 years, our product offering of in- Locking Assemblies self-centering
ternal clamping and external clamping locking devices and global
support has been unparalleled in the industry. Self-centring RINGFEDER® Locking Assemblies enable extre-
mely precise concentricity in the clamped components. The maxi-
mum concentricity error for the clamping sets that are machined in
a clamping process is an extremely low 0.04 mm. These clamping
Characteristics sets are used primarily in gear wheel mountings in rotary pumps
and in machine tools that require the highest level of precision.
One of the most demanding challenges to our Locking Assemblies
is the application in belt drums. The extreme additional load through
bending moments has to be reliably absorbed by the Locking Assem-
bly and requires the highest engineering know-how. Our international Locking Assemblies without
development team, which has already set benchmarks in quality axial displacement

The Locking Assembly can be subject to localised lifting on the side
with lower pressure. Micro-movements between the Locking Assem-
bly and the adjacent components occur. The fretting corrosion which
results from this causes surface damage, which can lead to cracks or
even shaft breakage in worst cases.
