Speaking Lesson I.

Talking about Routines

Exercise 1: Warm-Up Discussion
a. Work in pairs and ask these questions to your partner.
e.g. I wake up at 7 o’clock.
- What time do you wake up?
- What do you eat for breakfast?
- How do you go to school?
b. Think of daily activities you do from the time you wake up until you go to bed. Share
these activities with your teacher as a class.
Exercise 2: Daily Routine Timetable
Complete your own daily routine timetable and compare it with a partner. Then share it in the
class.

Time Activity Example Sentence

7:00 AM Wake Up I wake up at 7 o'clock.

12:00 PM Have Lunch I have lunch at 12 o'clock.

11:00 PM Go to Sleep I go to sleep at 11 o’clock.

Exercise 3: Daily Routine Circle Game

Read the rules first and then play the game!
1. Sit in a circle.
2. The first student says one sentence about their daily routine. For example: "I wake up at 7
o'clock."
3. The next student repeats all the previous sentences and adds their own. For example: "I
wake up at 7 o'clock, and I eat breakfast at 8 o'clock."
4.Continue around the circle. Each student repeats the sentences and adds a new daily
activity.
Exercise 4: Time Phrases Round Table
Sit in a circle with your classmates. Each student will take a turn to say one activity they do
every day, using a different time phrase for routines. Remember, do not repeat what someone
else has said!
