World Breastfeeding Week theme for 2022 is "Step Up for Breastfeeding: Educate and Support".

As per the WHO reports, 2 out of 3 children are not breastfed. Therefore, it makes it all the more
crucial to mark this day. Mothers are recommended to breastfeed their children for 6 months
post birth.

The World Health Assembly has set a global target to increase the exclusive breastfeeding rate by
50 per cent by 2025.
Indian weightlifter Achinta Sheuli wins the Gold medal in Men's 73kg
weightlifting finals with a total lift of 313 kg.
Achinta Sheuli’s gold medal is India’s third in the
Commonwealth Games 2022 and the sixth one in
total, all coming in from weightlifting.

He was born on November 24, 2001, and competes

in the 73 kg weight class. Achinta Sheuli won the
Silver Medal at the 2021 Junior World Weightlifting
Championships

 Indian Air Force will retire all squadrons of MiG-21 by 2025
The Indian Air Force will retire one of its four
remaining squadrons, MiG-21 (Russian combat
aircraft) fighter jets by 2022 September and other
three scheduled to be phased out by 2025.

The old MiG-21s will be replaced with newer fighter

jets.

The air force received its first single-engine MiG-21

in 1963.

The fighter jet has been participated in many

operations like Safed Sagar (Kargil, 1999), operation
of India in Pakistan in February 2019
3rd India-Vietnam Bilateral Army Exercise “Ex VINBAX 2022” begins
in Haryana
• conducted at Chandimandir, Haryana from August 1 to 20,
2022.
• The theme of Ex VINBAX 2022 is the “Employment and
deployment of an Engineer Company and a Medical Team
as part of United Nations Contingent for Peace Keeping
Operations”.
• The exercise will further strengthen the bilateral relations
between India and Vietnam.

• Andaman Nicobar Command signed an MoU with Airport Authority of India to boost inter-island
connectivity under Udaan Scheme in Port Blair.
• As per the MoU, naval airfields at Shibpur (in Diglipur) in North Andaman and in Campbell Bay
will be utilized for civil operations.
• Passenger flights will be connecting Port Blair directly to Diglipur and Campbell Bay, the two
extreme corners of the archipelago.
• A low-cost 20-passenger flight to be operated between these islands as per the vision of the
Udaan Scheme.
• Presently, Heli services are available to Diglipur and Campbell in a very limited capacity.
• Diglipur is the third most populous town in Andaman while a major transhipment port is to
come up in Campbell Bay.
• Andaman and Nicobar Islands were formed due to collision between Indian Plate and
Burma Minor Plate [part of Eurasian Plate][Similar to formation of Himalayas].
