COURSE CODE: TPC6
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
The course aims to train students to develop basic conversational skills using a foreign language.
COURSE PURPOSE:
The focus of this course is to train the students to function successfully in Chinese culture using Mandarin as their primary language. With personal intent to pursue
interest pertaining to professional goals in some segment of the Chinese society. This means that it is expected that you will learn how to present yourself in a way that a
Chinese person will find comfortable.
This course will help to develop skills in Mandarin Chinese to communicate across ethnic, cultural, ideological and national boundaries and to develop an understanding of
Chinese interpersonal behavioral culture and related thought patterns. At the end of the course, you will be expected to perform in speaking, listening, reading and writing
Chinese at a basic level of proficiency. Likewise demonstrate a level of cultural understanding suitable for correct performance of assigned tasks in Chinese (e.g., how to make a
request in an appropriate way).The evaluation (i.e., your grades) will be based largely on their daily performances,oral and written examinations and attendance.
COURSE REQUIREMENT/S:
To maximize the potential of completing the course successfully, every student should log-in to the assigned free web service via google classroom platform to streamline
the process of showing files and digital collaboration between the course professor /instructor and students. Within the google classroom stream page can feed the
announcements, assignments, chapter activities,readings and discussions or reflectives as well as examinations in a timely manner.
COURSE EVALUATION/ GRADING SYTEM:
TPC6: FOREIGN LANGUAGE I
To pass this course ,one must accumulate at least 60 units through the course requirements discussed above. The maximum points that a student can obtain through each
requirement are shown below:

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1. Effective and strong foundations of Academic programs that will molds and secure the knowledge, ability, skills and capacity of our graduates.
2. Sustainable development in terms of scholarly and professional concerns that meet the dynamic needs and quality standards of the industry.
3. To expose the students in the fields related to their courses and will establish affiliation to different hospitality guilds and organization that will help them to enrich their
knowledge.
4. In lieu of a formal instruction done through online teaching and learning ,this course will acquaint and provide students an opportunity whose minds will be stimulated
to think , explore and broaden knowledge afront self-understanding two(2) perspective such as dimensional and functional in nature via activities or course
exercises,video clip, links and readings.
COURSE POLICIES:
To maintain a sound online reputation and online presence, the IHTM recommended important reminders such as but not limited to:
1. It is salient that as a student and professor/instructor an online classroom is in fact a classroom in itself where certain behaviors are deemed expected.
2. Treat everyone (fellow classmates and course professor/instructor) with cordial respect both virtual and any other online communication.
3. Be respective of time and attention.
4. Avoid unless needed for emphasis purpose the use of caps lock as it can be misleading and misinterpreted. Even the use of emoticons as not everyone knows how to
interpret them, particularly in academic writing.
5. Never cross a line into the area of academic dishonesty to avoid the impact of either “soft” Misconduct and Misconduct with Concrete Repercussions.
6. It is paramount to practice Net Etiquette rules from time to time to alienate and get into social and /or legal trouble.
Attendance Policy
Success in this course is dependent on your active participation and engagement throughout the course. As such, students are required to complete all assignments by the due
date, and to actively participate in class discussions.
Log on at least once a week – on different days in order to completely weekly assignments, assessments, discussions and/or other weekly deliverables as directed by the
instructor and outlined in the syllabus;
Participate in the weekly threaded discussions, this means that, in addition to posting a response to the thread topic presented, students are expected to respond to each other
and comment and questions from the instructor and/or other students;
If you find that you cannot meet the class' minimum discussion requirements due to such a circumstance, please contact your instructor as soon as possible.
Students will not be marked present for the course in a particular week if they have not posted on the discussion forum and/or submit assignment/essay or complete

Homework policy
• Homework assignments are to be submitted at the beginning of the lecture period on the date due. Late homework will be penalized at a rate of 10% per day late.
Homework submitted after the solutions have been provided will not be accepted.
• Some homework assignments will require computer calculations. You are free to use other computer programs if you prefer, as long as you clearly document your work.
• Clearly explaining what you have done to solve a homework or exam problem is at least as important as obtaining a correct numerical result. Computer or calculator
computations must be accompanied by appropriate documentation of how the computation was carried out. This might involve writing a few sentences of explanation, or
attaching a printout of commented computer code. If you are uncertain about what to include, contact your instructor by means of social media messenger or tru google
classroom account.
Reporting No Show
Each semester the instructor must report those students who are on their class roll but have NEVER logged onto google classroom.
Syllabus
Syllabus is required for online courses and must meet the same content requirements that apply to all campus academic courses. Syllabus must include learning objectives,
grading procedures, examinations and dates, number of quizzes, and methods of creating interactivity (chat, bulletin board, e-mail, CD, etc.). The syllabus is posted on Google
Classroom within the course content and it is the instructor’s responsibility to update syllabus information prior to the start of each semester.
Withdrawal
Students who seek to drop an online course will be withdrawn from the official list from the registrar office and as well from the Google classroom’particular subject. This
withdrawal process follows the same requirements and procedures that apply to on-campus courses.
