Lesson Plan
Lesson: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence School: JANKIDEVI PUBLI SCHOOL
Date: Teacher: MS AGNES
Class: VIII Number Present: Number Absent:
Learning objectives: By the end of the lesson,
Students will be able to understand the basics of Artificial Intelligence, identify
real-world applications, and recognize the impact of AI , limitations of AI

Lesson objectives: 1. Define Artificial Intelligence

o Students will be able to explain what AI is in simple terms and
distinguish between AI and traditional computer programs.
2. Identify Types of AI
o Students will recognize and differentiate between types of AI,
specifically Narrow AI (used in specific tasks) and General AI
(still under development).
3. Describe How AI Works
o Students will understand the basic components of AI systems,
including data, algorithms, and machine learning, and will
explain how AI uses these components to “learn” and make
decisions.
4. List Real-World Applications of AI
o Students will identify at least three areas where AI is used in
everyday life, such as healthcare, education, transportation, and
home automation.
5. Understand the Role of Data in AI
o Students will explain why data is important for AI and how it
helps AI systems learn and improve.
6. Analyze AI Scenarios
o Through a group activity, students will apply their knowledge of
AI to discuss how it could solve specific real-world problems.
7. Reflect on the Impact of AI on Society
o Students will be able to discuss the potential benefits and ethical
considerations associated with AI, including privacy, job
displacement, and decision-making.
8. Envision Future Uses of AI (Optional Homework)
o Students will creatively envision and describe potential future
applications of AI or how they believe AI might impact their
lives in the coming years.

Vocabulary: Artificial Intelligence(AI), Expert System, State Space search

Previous learning: Students should have
1. Basic Computer Concepts
o Understanding of what computers are and how they follow
instructions (basic input, processing, output concepts).
o Familiarity with terms like "software" and "programming" can
be helpful, though not necessary in detail.
2. Examples of Technology in Everyday Life
o Students should have some awareness of technological tools they
use daily, such as smartphones, tablets, and search engines. This
can include experience with voice assistants like Siri, Google
Assistant, or Alexa.
3. Understanding of Problem-Solving and Decision-Making
o Basic knowledge of how humans make decisions based on logic,
patterns, or rules. This helps them compare human problem-
solving with how AI is designed to make decisions or recognize
patterns.
4. Introduction to the Internet and Apps
o Familiarity with how they use apps or online platforms that
might use AI without them realizing it, like YouTube
recommendations or social media filters, can serve as a bridge to
understanding real-life applications of AI.
5. Awareness of Ethics and Responsibility (Optional)
o Some understanding that technology can be used in positive or
negative ways. This can open up discussions about the ethical
considerations of AI in future lessons.

Plan
Activities Resources
Beginning Discussion: Presentations
Who has heard of AI? What do you think it is?"

1. Encourage students to share any experiences

with AI (e.g., using Siri, Alexa, Google
Assistant).
2. Write down a few student answers on the
board.

Middle Definition: Explain AI as the ability of machines or

computers to "think" and learn, making decisions like
humans.
 Examples: Mention examples like:
o Voice assistants (Siri, Alexa)
o Recommendation systems (YouTube,
Netflix)
o Self-driving cars  Computer with

each group a common activity (e.g.,  Internet-enabled

friendly AI tools or games (e.g., Google’s AI

 Questions: Allow students to clarify any
doubts.
 Discuss the questions.

Reflection and evaluation

Resource  Projector or smartboard
 Short AI introductory video (3-5 minutes)
 Whiteboard and markers
 Worksheet for reflection activity
 Internet-enabled devices (optional for interactive activity)

Recapitulation and Evaluations

1. Worksheet based on the Topic to be given to students and will be discussed during the class.
2. Distribute worksheets with exercises for students to complete independently or in pairs.
3. Walk around the classroom to provide assistance and guidance as needed.
