BATMAN SECURITY PLANKET

You can use what ever


nice pattern you’ll find for
the blanket. I used
Sunburst Baby Blanket
(pdf).

Difficulty:

Intermediate

Materials:
Novita Cotton Soft in 5 colors:
099 black 48 g
405 grey 18 g
010 off-white 3,5 g
269 yellow 2 g
011 white < 1 g
3 mm and 2,5 mm Crochet hook
Cotton wool for stuffing
Tapestry needle
Scissors

Gauge:
Gauge not necessary.

Abbreviations (U.S.):
CH: chain stitch
SL: slip stitch
SC: single crochet
DC: double crochet

Direction of crocheting:

Crochet the blanket with a pattern you prefer. The last picture shows how I used the colors in my blanket.

Head:

Use off-white yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook.


Round 1: [6 SC] (6) (magic circle)
Round 2: [2 SC in each ST around] (12)
Round 3: [Add 6 SC evenly: 1 SC, 2 SC in next SC] (18)
Round 4: [Add 6 SC evenly: 2 SC, 2 SC in next SC] (24)
Round 5: [Add 6 SC evenly: 3 SC, 2 SC in next SC] (30)
Round 6: [Add 6 SC evenly: 4 SC, 2 SC in next SC] (36)
Rounds 7-13: [SC in each ST around] (36)
Round 14: [Dec 6 SC evenly: 4 SC, dec across 2 STS] (30)
Round 15: [Dec. 6 SC evenly: 3 SC, dec across 2 STS] (24)
Rounds 16: [Dec 6 SC evenly: 2 SC, dec across 2 STS] (18)
Stuff with cotton wool.

Finish off.

Black helmet:

Use black yarn and 3 mm crochet hook. Crochet rounds 1-12 like the off-white head.
Round 13: 26 SC (10 not crocheted)
Round 14: 1 CH, turn, 5 SC, dec across 2 STS, [4 SC, dec across 2 STS.]*2, 5 SC, 2 dec across 2 STS (22)
Round 15: 1 CH, turn, 4 SC, dec across 2 STS, [3 SC, dec across 2 STS.]*2, 4 SC, 2 dec across 2 STS (18)
Round 16: 1 CH, turn, 3 SC, dec across 2 STS, [2 SC, dec across 2 STS.]*2, 3 SC, 2 dec across 2 STS (14)
Insert the white head inside the black helmet.
Round 17: 9 CH (or suitable amount), attach with 1 SL on the other side “under the chin”. Crochet SL around the
hole and in the middle of the forehead, crochet 3 CH (= “nose”).

Ears:

Use black yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook.


Round 1: [4 SC] (4) (magic circle)
Round 2: [2 SC in each ST around] (8)
Round 3: [8 SC] (8)
Round 4: [Add 2 SC: 2 SC, 2 SC in next SC, 2 SC, 2 SC in next SC, 2 SC.] (10)
Rounds 5-6: [10 SC] (10)
Leave yarn for sewing.

Hands:

Use black and grey yarn and 2,5 mm crochet hook. Start with black yarn.
Round 1: [6 SC] (6) (magic circle)
Round 2: [2 SC in each ST around] (12)
Round 3: [Add 6 SC evenly: 1 SC, 2 SC in next SC] (18)
Rounds 4-5: [18 SC] (18)
Round 6: 17 SC, 1 * 5 DC popcorn stitch (18)
Round 7: [Dec 3 SC evenly: 3 SC, dec across 2 STS]*3, 3 SC (15)
Change to grey yarn.
Rounds 8-10: [15 SC] (15)
Round 11: [Dec 3 SC evenly: 3 SC, dec across 2 STS] (12)
Rounds 12-14: [12 SC] (12)
Round 15: [Dec 2 SC evenly: 4 SC, dec across 2 STS] (10)
Round 16: [Dec 2 SC evenly: 3 SC, dec across 2 STS] (8)
Rounds 17-19: [8 SC] (8)
Stuff with cotton wool and leave yarn for sewing.

Sew hands and head to the blanket. Sew mouth with black yarn and eyes with white yarn.
