Administrative Matters

Singapore Transport System

Mode of transport in Singapore


1. Public Bus*

*Students will enjoy concessionary fares with their School Smart


Card (SSC). Replacement cost for any lost SSC is $15.

One way transportation
- Only for students who have signed up.
- The bus will pick you from ACS to FHSS on school days only.
- This is not available on weekends, public holidays, school holidays and
Home-Based Learning days.
- Estimated cost $100-$120 (non-refundable). Actual cost to be advised
before the commencement of next school term.
- Full payment for each term will be collected or deducted via GIRO

Bank Account Opening

Upon successful account opening, scholars will receive your ATM


card and PIN via mail at ACS (Independent) Boarding School
within 8 working days. ATM card can be activated via DBS/POSB
ATM machines.

ATM card limit are set at $200/day.


General Interbank Recurring Order (GIRO)

Automated electronic payment service where the amount will be

Personal Learning Device (PLD)
The National Digital Literacy Programme (“NDLP”) was launched at MOE’s Committee
of Supply Debate in March 2020 to help students strengthen their digital literacy.

As part of the programme, every secondary school student will own a PLD.

Model for 2025 = Information not available yet (In 2024, Apple iPad 10.2 9th Gen)

Cost = Not claimable under ASEAN scholarship.

Home Leave
Scholars are allowed to return home only during school vacation periods (Mar/ Jun/
Sep/ Dec term breaks) or other periods stipulated by MOE.

Parents are to submit the home leave request via the online
form (https://go.gov.sg/travelapplication) to school at least 1
week in advance, to seek for approval before making travel
arrangement such as purchasing of air ticket.
School Vacations 2025
The last day of school will be 23 Oct 2025.
24 Oct 2025 will be Parent-Teacher Meeting.
Leave Application to stay out with
parents in Singapore

Occasional stay outs with your parents when they are in


Singapore, can be granted.

Parents are to submit the stay out request via the online form
(https://go.gov.sg/travelapplication) to school at least 1 week in
advance, to seek for approval before to making arrangement.
Insurance Coverage
All scholars are covered under the following insurance:
(1) Group Medical Insurance [Outpatient and Inpatient]
(2) Group Personal Accident Insurance

Reimbursement for medical claims is subject to being certified medically fit as


prescribed under the Scholarships Agreement.

The insurance is underwritten by Great Eastern Life Assurance Company Limited


(GEL).
E-cards for Outpatient Consultation at Panel

• All scholars are required to download the ‘Great Health
Corporate’ app and register for an account to access their E-
cards. Scholars MUST produce their E-card and student’s pass
(for verification of identity) at the time of visit in order to be
eligible for the subsidised treatment.

Group Hospital and Surgical Insurance
• Provides subsidized medical treatment for admission to Class B1 wards and below
at public hospitals, including Institute of Mental Health.
• Benefits include hospitalization (daily room and board; inpatient services; one in-
hospital doctor’s visit) and surgical charges. Only eligible hospitalization expenses
are covered under the insurance. Personal expenses are not reimbursable.
• A co-payment of 5% of the eligible hospitalisation expenses or S$100, whichever
is lower,
• No insurance coverage of pre-existing conditions for the first 12 months for new
scholars.

Group Personal Accident Insurance
• 24-hour worldwide coverage against death or disablement arising solely
and directly from an accident.
• Medical treatments relating to the following conditions are excluded for
coverage:
• Self-inflicted injuries or any attempt at that place or time
• Participation in competitive racing on wheels
• Benefits payable for local medical expenses and death & permanent
disablement.
• Scholars should first submit their claims for reimbursement from the
MOE Group Personal Accident (GPA) Insurance for Students Master
Contract for accidents that meet the coverage conditions (i.e. due to
school activities or accidents within school compound).
