3rd QUARTER ARTS
Photography is the science, art and practice of creating durable images by recording light or
other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor, or
chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film.
Steve Sasson was the inventor of the world's first digital camera.
It weighed 8 pounds (3.6 kg) and had only 0.01 megapixels. The image was recorded
onto a cassette tape and this process took 23 seconds. His camera took images in
black-and-white.
Sasson was awarded the National Medal of Technology and Innovation at a 2009 White
House ceremony by President Obama.
