NOTAS AL PROGRAMA
Béla Bartók
Romanian folk dances is a suite of six short piano pieces composed by Béla
Bartók in 1915. In 1917, the composer orchestrated it for small orchestral
ensemble. The piece is based on six Transylvanian violin tunes. Vibrant and
dynamic music alternates special images in a captivating kaleidoscope, which
tells us about the Romanian folk ethos.
Mircea Chiriac
Serenade for violin and piano is one of the early works of the composer. This
piece brings to the fore a pastoral atmosphere of great finesse, told through
an original melody of great expressiveness.
Paul Constantinescu
Sonatina for violin and piano, consisting of three movements (Allegro
moderato, Andante and Allegro assai) presents a vibrant and dynamic music,
sometimes essence of a lyrical melopee, alternate special images in a
captivating kaleidoscope, which tells us about Romanian folk ethos.
Johannes Brahms
The Sonata for piano and violin, op. 108 was composed between 1886 and
1888 and stands out among the other Brahmsian sonatas dedicated to this
chamber ensemble by the dramatic musicality of the themes, by the pathos
and restlessness of the musical expression. This Sonata (conceived in four
movements) is considered one of the most romantic Brahmsian creations, a
brilliant masterpiece. Its characteristics refer to the drama of the themes, the
amplification of developments and the differentiation of dynamic and agogic
contrasts.
Frederico de Freitas
Allegro appassionato for violin and piano is composed in one movement in
which we discover a sensitive melody, sometimes even dramatic, strongly
imprinted by the essence and freshness of Portuguese-inspired intonations.
Johannes Brahms
The Sonata for piano and violin F. A. E (Frei aber einsam, in translation from
German Free, but lonely), was the fruit of an extraordinary creative
atmosphere, being composed by the collective participation of the
composers Robert Schumann, Johannes Brahms and Albert Dietrich. It was
dedicated to the great violinist and their mutual friend, Joseph Joachim, who
had been invited to Düsseldorf to perform at the famous music festival of the
Lower Rhine region at the end of October 1853. The Scherzo was composed
by the brilliant composer Johannes Brahms.
