General Instructions: -
1. This Question Paper has 5 sections A, B, C, D and E.
2. Section-A has 20 MCQ‘S carrying 1 mark each.
3. Section-B has 5 questions carrying 2 marks each.
4. Section-C has 6 questions carrying 3 marks each.
5. Section-D has 4 questions carrying 5 marks each.
6. Section-E has 3 case based integrated units of assessment with sub parts of
values 1,1 and 2 marks each respectively.
7. All questions are compulsory. However, an internal choice in 2 questions of 2
marks, 2 questions of 3 marks and 2 questions of 5 marks has been provided. An
internal choice has been provided in the 2 marks questions of Section E.
8. Draw neat figures wherever required.
9. Take π = 22/7, wherever required if not stated.

22. A group of Class X students goes to picnic during vacation. There were three
different slides and three friends Ajay, Ram and Shyam are sliding in the three slides.
The position of the three friends shown by P, Q and R in three different slides are
given in the diagram. Consider O as origin, answer the following questions.
i) Find the distance PR ii) Find the co-ordinates of the mid point of QR

23. If α and β are the zeroes of a polynomial x2 − 43 x + 3, then find the value of
α + β − αβ
Or

If α and β are the zeros of the quadratic polynomial 2𝑥2 – 8𝑥 + 5 , find the value of
(𝛼+1/β) × (𝛽+ 1/α).

24. There are 20 numbered cards with labelled 1 to 20 Rahul and his friends put all
the number cards in the empty chalk box available in the classroom. If Rahul picks up
any card randomly, then find the probability of getting :
i) a Prime Number
ii) a multiple of 6

Three unbiased coins are tossed together. Find the probability of getting :

i) Two heads

ii) At least two heads

25. A ladder is placed against a wall in such a way that it makes angle 60° from the floor
and the height of the wall where ladder touches the wall is 3.7 m .

Find the length of the ladder. (take √3 = 1.73)

SECTION – C

26. In the given figure, the area of the shaded region between two concentric
circles is 286 cm2. If the difference of the radii of the two circles is 7 cm, find the
sum of their radii.

27. Prove that √3 is an irrational number.

29. Two men on either side of a 75 m high building and in line with base of building
observe the angles of elevation of the top of the building as 30° and 60°. Find the
distance between the two men. (Use √3 = 1.73)

30. A 15m high tower casts a shadow of 24m at a certain time and at the same time
a telephone pole casts a shadow of 16m. Find the height of the telephone pole.

OR

Diagonals AC and BD of a trapezium ABCD with AB II DC, intersect each other at the
point O. Using a similarity criterion for two triangles, show that :

31. If the point ( -1,2) divides internally the line segment joining A( 2,5) and B in the
ratio 3:4, then find the co-ordinates of B.

32.). A girl of height 90cm is walking away from the base of a lamp post at a speed of
1.2m/s. If the lamp is 3.6 m above the ground, find the length of her shadow after 4
seconds.

State and prove Basic Proportionality Theorem.

33. Given below is the record of a survey of 80 patients admitted in a hospital.

34. 200 logs are stacked in a manner such that 20 logs are in the bottom row, 19 in
the next row, 18 in the row next to it and so on. In how many rows are the 200 logs
placed and how many logs are there in the top row?

35. For the given pair of linear equations 2x + y = 6, 2x = y + 2. Draw the graph of the
two equations on the same graph paper. Find the solution of the equations.

A fraction is such that if the numerator is multiplied by 3 and the denominator is

reduced by 3, we get , but if the numerator is increased by 8 and the denominator

SECTION – E

36. Person/observer on the sea coast observes two ships in the sea, both the ships
are in same straight path one behind the other. If the observer is on his building of
height 20 meters (including observer) and he observes the angle of depression of
two ships as 45° and 60° respectively.

a. If a person observes a ship whose angle of depression is 60° then how


much distance is the ship away from the building?
b. If a person observes another ship whose angle of depression is 45° then
how much distance that ship is away from the building?

37. In an international school in Hyderabad organised an Interschool Throwball


Tournament for girls just after the pre-board exam. The throw ball team was very
excited. The team captain Anjali directed the team to assemble in the ground for
practices. Only three girls Priyanshi, Swetha and Aditi showed up. The rest did
not come on the pretext of preparing for pre-board exam. Anjali drew a circle of
radius 5 m on the ground. The centre A was the position of Priyanshi. Anjali
marked a point N, 13 m away from centre A as her own position. From the point
N, she drew two tangential lines NS and NR and gave positions S and R to
Swetha and Aditi. Anjali throws the ball to Priyanshi, Priyanshi throws it to
Swetha, Swetha throws it to Anjali, Anjali throws it to Aditi, Aditi throws it to
Priyanshi, Priyanshi throws it to Swetha and so on.

a) Find the distance between Swetha and Anjali?


b) How far does Anjali have to throw the ball towards Aditi?
c) If ∠SNR is equal to θ, then find ∠RAS.

38. The group of Class X students went for a trip. The in charge of the trip has
planned to stay in tents. They took canvas for the arrangement of two tents which is
in the shape of a cylinder surmounted by a conical top.
The height and diameter of the cylindrical part are 2.1 m and 4 m respectively, and
the slant height of the top is 2.8 m.

a. Find the area of the canvas used for making one tent used in the trip
b. What is the area of the base of the tent?
c. What is the lateral surface area of conical part?
OR
What is the volume of air inside the cylindrical base only?
