1. Study the map extract of a section ofMontego Bay, Jamaica, drawn to a scale of 1 :50 000 (provided
as an insert), and answer the following questions.

(a) Identify the crop which is produced in grid square 4400.

(1 mark)

(b) State the six figure grid reference of the trigonometrical station at Cacoon Castle.

(2 marks)

(c) What is the direction of the hospital at Fairfield Estate (5300) from the hospital in Montego
Bay (5302)?

(1 mark)

(d) Measure the grid bearing of the post office at Montpelier (5191) from the church at Copse
(4792).

(2 marks)

(e) Measure the distance along the railway line from the point where the railway crosses the
road at Gordons Crossing (529988) to the point where it ends in Montego Bay, to the
nearest 100 metres.
