(a) Find the values of 𝑎 and 𝑏.
(b) Find the quotient when 𝑝(𝑥) is divided by 2𝑥 + 1.
(c) Paul claims that the equation 𝑝(𝑥) = 0 has irrational roots. Do you agree? Explain your
answer.

(a) Find the quotient when 𝑓(𝑥) is divided by 𝑥 2 + 𝑥 − 6.
(b) Someone claims that all the roots of equation 𝑓(𝑥) = 0 are distinct. Do you agree? Explain
your answer.
