1. define information technology and information systems.

Information Technology is the creation, processing, storing, securing, and exchanging of

all types of electronic data through the use of computers, storage, networking, and other
physical devices, infrastructure, and procedures. On the other hand, an Information
System is a comprehensive collection of parts used to gather, store, and process data
as well as to deliver knowledge, information, and digital goods.

2. what are the components of information system, explain each.

a. Hardware is the technology’s tangible component. It includes computers, hard

drives, keyboards, iPads, and other devices. While the speed and storage
capacity of hardware have greatly increased, the cost has dramatically fallen.
However, there is a lot of concern about how hardware use affects the
environment nowadays. These days, the cloud, which is accessible through
telecommunications networks, provides storage services.
b. Software - It has two categories, System software and application software. The
system software is an operating system that allows the user to control the PC
through a graphical user interface (GUI) while managing the hardware, program
files, and other resources. Application software is made to help users manage
certain tasks. To put it briefly, application software manages particular tasks,
whereas system software makes the hardware usable.
c. Telecommunications - It is where information is transmitted and computer
systems, portable devices, and wearable technology are networked through
telecommunications. Either wired or wireless media are used to create
connections.
d. Databases - It is a collection of related material that has been arranged such
specific records or sets of records can be retrieved to meet different
requirements. Product catalogs and personnel files are common examples of
databases. Databases support an organization’s administration and operations.

3. list down and explain the Internet business strategies.

a. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) - Improves a website’s organic placement
in search results through on-page factors (content, structure, usability) and off-
page factors (links, social shares, authority). It aligns with Google’s guidelines
while ensuring a great visitor experience.
b. Search Engine Marketing (SEM) - Uses paid search ads (ex., Pay Per Click) to
drive traffic. Once an umbrella term for SEO and paid ads, SEM now mainly
refers to paid search strategies.
c. Social Media Marketing - Leverages platforms to promote businesses, engage
customers, build brand awareness, and share content. While it may not directly
drive sales, it boosts engagement and visibility.

4. what is modeling business operations?

Modeling business operations creates visual representations of an organization’s
processes to analyze and improve efficiency. It highlights how tasks and activities are
connected, supporting better decision-making and process optimization.
