ABSTRACT

The fabrication of water gutter corner is a crucial component of effective water drainage system,
commonly used in residential commercial and industrial structures. This project focuses on
designing and manufacturing durable and effective gutter corner to ensure seamless water flow
and minimize leakage risks. The process involve material selection, Precision cutting, blending ,and
joining techniques to create corner sections that connect linear gutter channels.

Various materials, such as galvanized steel, aluminium, and PVC, are considered based on factors
like cost, durability, and environmental conditions. Advanced manufacturing techniques, including

v
CNC cutting and welding, ensure accurate dimensions and tight fitting joints. The resulting gutter
corners are tested for strength, corrosion resistance, and water-tightness to ensure long term
reliability.

I came up with this project to highlight the importance of proper design and fabrication of gutter
corners in preventing water damage, promoting sustainable water management and enhancing the
overall efficiency of drainage systems.

CHAPTER ONE

1.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT

This is a section of rain gutter system where two gutters meet at a coner of building.

1.1 DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

. Gutter corners are typically angled to match the shape of the roof ,such as 90 for square coners. These
componets help to guide rain water efficiently from the roof into the downspouts.

1.2 NOTE

Safety is a priority during this project; personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and safety
goggles will be used. Proper measurements and alignment are crucial to ensure smooth water flow.
Environmental friendly practices, such as recycling leftover materials, will be implemented.

1.3 OBJECTIVE
The primary objectives of this project are;
• To contract a durable and efficient gutter corne.r
• To demonstrate technical skills in measuring, cutting, and assembling metal work.
• To ensure understanding of rain water drainage system.
• To prevent potential water damage to the building through effective drainage.

1.4 SIGNIFICANT OF THE PROJECT

This project is significant as it provides a practical solution to a common construction problem managing rain
water. Properly installed gutter corners reduce the risk of water damage to roofs, walls and foundations,
increasing the lifespan of the building. Additionally the project serves as a hands-on learning experience,
allowing for skills development and metal work, plumbing, and project management, which are valuable in
the construction and maintenance industry.
CHAPTER TWO

2.0 LITERATURE REVIEW

A gutter corner is a critical component of a rain water drainage system, designed to channel water efficiently
from the roof into the downspouts t points where two gutters section meet. Research and technical guides on
gutter system emphasize the importance of proper design, material selection, and installation to ensure
durability and functionality.
The gutter system prevents water accumulation, which can lead to roof leaks, foundation damage and
soil erosion around buildings. Aluminum and other lightweight materials are commonly used due to their
corrosion resistance and ease of fabrication. Tools like rivet guns and sealants are essential for
assembling and water proofing the gutter section, ensuring a leak proof system .
Poor installation or material quality can compromise the system, leading to overflow, sagging, or leaks
at the corners. Therefore selecting appropriate materials and using precise tools are vital for
constructing durable and effective gutter corners.

CHAPTER THREE

3.0 METHODOLOGY
3.0.1 WORKING PROGRAM
DAY ACTIVITY DURATION

MONDAY Activity out Hours

Planning and preparation 1.5hrs
Collect materials and tools required for the project. Take
measurements of the roofline to determine gutter and 2hrs
corner dimensions.

TUESDAY Activity two

Cutting and assembling 30min
Cut aluminum sheets into desired sizes and file the edge.
Assemble the corner by connecting gutter section with rivets and 50min
waterproof sealant.

WEDNESDAY Activity three

Installation
Mount the gutter corner and sections to the fascia board
using brackets and screw. 1.5hrs
Ensure proper alignment and slope for effective water
flow.

THURSDAY Activity four

Testing and final adjustments
Pour water into the gutter system to test for leaks and ensure smooth 2hrs
drainage.
Apply additional sealant or make adjustments as necessary.

FRIDAY Activity five

Commission the project 2hrs
Hand over the project 1hr

3.2 PROCEDURE FOR GUTTER CORNERS FABRICATION

3.2.1 UNDERSTAND DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
• Identify the type of gutter corner; internal and external of it.
• Measure the required angles[90and 45degrees] and dimensions for the corner. • Verify
material specifications (aluminum)
6
3.2. 2 GATHERING MATERIALS AND TOOLS
 Material; sheet metal(aluminum), fasteners(rivets), and sealant or solder.
 Tools; Measuring tape, marking tools, angle finder, square, metal snips, clamp, solder kits, and mallet.

CHAPTER FIVE

5.0 CONCLUSION
Through this project, I gained more experience on how to fabricate a gutter corner in residential homes,
schools, and factories. Through this project I have advanced in practical knowledge.

5.1 RECOMMENDATION
I recommend that all material used for construction should be approved by local building authority. For
project to be good, skilled personnel should be given the task to increase the installation efficiency.
