The Hearts & Flowers design is the perfect beginner crochet

blanket and a relaxing Crochet Along for all makers.
Sharna designed her Hearts & Flowers blanket to welcome
the return of Spring and reflect her peaceful, loving
personality. Inspired by Spring walks, Sharna has incorporated
her signature tonal pinks with cheerful pops of bright colour
to herald warmer, sunnier days ahead.
If you’re new to crochet, Sharna’s videos will guide you from
your first chain through simple stitches, granny squares and
stripes until, before you know it, you’ve finished your
first blanket.
If you’ve joined us before, or have a lifetime of crochet
experience, this is the perfect project to relax with rhythmic,
repetitive stitches and maybe learn a few new techniques
along the way.

SIZE TENSION
The actual size of your blanket will depend on your tension

17
(how tightly you crochet). Whilst tension isn’t essential to
the success of the project, it will make a difference to the
7

18
size of the blanket and amount of yarn used.
19

For Week 1 square finished size approximately

11cm x 11cm (4¼in x 4¼in)
180 cm (71”)
20

(approximately)
8 squares crocheted together will be approximately
8

88cm x 11cm (34¾in x 4¼in).

21

We’ve given these measurements as a guide but everyone

22

crochets differently and Sharna wants you to relax and

enjoy making this blanket rather than worrying too much
about tension.
9

23

98 cm (38½”)
(approximately) If your squares are much smaller than the guide size, your
24

finished blanket might be slightly smaller than Sharna’s and

you could have a bit more yarn left over. If you’re happy
with that, don’t worry at all, otherwise you could try a
25

4.50mm crochet hook.

10

26

If your squares are much bigger than 11cm, (4¼in), you

might want to try dropping down to a 3.50mm or 3.00mm
27

crochet hook, remembering to change back up next week.
