Internship Project Work Diary

The online course started today with an introductory video. The video contained the information about how the course will progress. And it had a brief introduction about the course mentor, Kulpreet Yadav. I also learnt about the structure of the course. The course contains six modules and each module has a module test at the end. 16/07/2020 (6:30 – 7:30 PM) Today I started with the first module. In the first video They showed how one can learn creative writing with persistence. And to consider creative writing as a journey. The second video contained the success stories of notable authors like, J.K Rowling and Stephen King. I learned that with passion one can achieve success. 17/07/2020 (11:30 – 12:30 AM) I continued with the first module, here I learnt how to deal with writer’s block, find ideas and remain motivated. And in the last video of this module I learnt how to write better through observation, experience, and research. I completed the module by attending the module test. 18/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:30 AM) Today I started with the second module about Fiction. In the first video they gave an introduction about fiction writing. And about the types of genres and the difference between Literary fiction and Popular fiction. The second video comprised of types of fiction based on word count: Novel, Novella, Novelette etc. and about Flash fiction. The third video comprised of structure of a story. I learnt about three-act structure and five- act structure by taking Ramayana as an example. 18/07/2020 (6:30 – 8:30 PM) I continued with the second module. The fourth video comprised of elements of a story. Then in the fifth video I learnt about types of characters and the importance of recallable characters. In the end of the fifth video, there was an assignment to create a character sketch by ourselves. And submit for Peer grading. 19/07/2020 (6:30 – 7:00 PM) Today I gave feedback for Peer grading assignment of two assignments done by other students in the course. 20/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:30 AM) I continued with the second module. In the sixth video I learnt how to construct an engaging plot. And how to write a story without a plot. Then I learnt how to deconstruct a literary novel and a popular fiction novel. And I learnt how to write a plot that transforms into a great Novel. 21/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:30 AM) Today I got the feedback for my assignment which I submitted for Peer grading. And I completed the seventh video of second module. Here, I learnt about Setting. And the difference between setting and description. Then to create an appropriate description by using good vocabulary, knowledge and use of 5 senses. 22/07/2020 (6:30 – 7:30 PM) In the eighth video I learnt about Point of View. And to infer and compare different Point of Views like, first person point of view, second person point of view and third person point of view. And about Head-hopping. The nineth video comprised of Conflict and different types of Conflict. And I learnt how to sustain conflict throughout the story. 23/07/2020 (10:00 – 11:30 AM) I continued with the tenth video. Here, I learnt about Tools for Good Writing. The second assignment was to introduce the conflict of our character by using dialogues. 24/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:00 AM) Today I gave feedback for Peer grading assignment of two assignments done by other students in the course. 25/07/2020 (10:00 – 11:00 AM) I again continued with the tenth video. Here, I learnt how to use literary devices like Professional Writers. And 20 important literary devices. 26/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:30 AM) Today I completed eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth video of second module. I learnt about the importance of Short Stories and different categories of short story. And about the significance of Fan Fiction and Serialised Fiction. 27/07/2020 (6:30 – 8:00 PM) In the fourteenth video, I learnt how to convert ideas into impactful Novels. And to develop an alternate universe: Fantasy World. Then in the fifteenth video I learnt about the importance of reading habit. 28/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:30 AM) The sixteenth video comprised of Reviewing a Book. Here, I learnt about the difference between Book Review and Literary Criticism. And to analyse a book review. 29/07/2020 (10:00 – 11:00 AM) Today I continued with the seventeenth video. In this video they showed what different writers say about writing using their quotes. 30/07/2020 (10:30 – 11:00 AM) In the last video of second module they showed a Fireside Chat with an Award – winning Author, Madhulika Liddle, who is an Award-winning Novelist and Short Story writer. 31/07/2020 (10:00 – 10:30 AM) I attended the Module test for the second Module. 01/08/2020 (10:00 – 11:30 AM) Today I started with the third module. The first video introduced editing. And the concept of style guide and style sheet. In the second video I learnt about tools for good editing. And the third video gave a step by step guide to Author editing. 01/08/2020 (6:30 – 7:30 PM) I continued with the fourth video which taught to format a book. And in the last video of the third module they taught why editing is a great career. And then I completed the third module by attending the module test. 02/08/2020 (10:00 - 11:30 AM) Today I started with the fourth module. The first video introduced Non-Fiction. The second video comprised of Creative Non-Fiction. Then in the third video I learnt about Feature Writing. 02/08/2020 (6:30 – 7:30 PM) I continued with the fourth video. Here, I learnt about News Report: Its Format, Types and Elements. In the last video of third module they showed a Fireside Chat with a Renowned Feature Writer, Vinita Nangia, Executive Editor, TOI and Director, Writer India. I completed the third module by attending the module test. 03/08/2020 (10:30 – 11:30 AM) I started with fifth Module. In the first video I learnt about Screen Play and Advertisement. About different kinds of screenplays. And in the second video I learnt about Advertisement Writing. And decoding the process of Advertisement Writing. 03/08/2020 (6:30 – 7:00 PM) I completed the fifth module by attending the Module test. 04/08/2020 (10:00 – 11:30 AM) Today I started with the sixth module. The first video introduced Publishing. Then the second video showed the role of a literary agent. And in the third video they showed the important sections of an Author-Publisher contract. In the fourth video I learnt about Plagiarism and its relationship with Copyright. 04/08/2020 (6:30 – 7:30 PM) I continued with the fifth video they gave the options for self-publishing. In the sixth video I learnt about E-publishing and Audiobook publishing. Then in the seventh video they showed the fundamentals of book marketing. 05/08/2020 (10:00 – 11:30 AM) In the eighth video od sixth module they showed a Fireside chat with a Leading Publisher, Milee Ashwarya, Publisher, Penguin Random House India. Then I completed the sixth module by attending the module test. The last video of this course gave the big 20 takeaways to inspire our creative writing journey. 05/08/2020 (6:30 – 7:30 PM) I attended the Final Test of this course which had 30 questions. The test was for 50 minutes. I got 97% in the final test. And after completing the test I got the Certificate of Completion.
