1. Mud houses are built in hot regions.
A. People living in hot and dry regions make mud houses for
themselves. Mud houses are natural air conditioners. The mud keeps
the house cool.

Spaces in a house.
A. There should be plenty of windows and doors in a house to let
sunlight enter. Sunlight kills the germs and disinfects the House.

VII. ANSWER THE FOLLOWING:


1. What are the essential features for an ideal house?
Ans: The features that are important of an ideal house are:-
(i) ventilation (ii) sunlight (iii) greenery in and
around the house (iv)sanitation
2. Why do we see wooden houses in hilly regions?
Ans: Wood keeps the inside of the house very warm. So wooden
Houses are often found in hill stations.
3. What are tents?
Ans: Tents are houses made of waterproof cloth called
canvas or nylon. They are useful in mountains or
desertsfor camping.
4. Why there should be greenery around our house?
Ans: Plants purify the air releasing oxygen. They help to reduce our
stress level and add beauty to our house.
5. What is a houseboat?
Ans: Floating wooden houses on waterbodies like
lakes are called houseboats. In India, houseboats are
found in Kerala and Srinagar.
