1- Objective:
This method statement to define the requirements for tiles work in Wall/Flooring.
2- Scope:
This procedure is applicable for tiles work as per approved drawing and technical specification
and relevant IS code.
4- Work Programme:
The tiles fixing work shall be carried out in accordance to work schedule programme.
5- Material Required:
The following tools and tackles will be required for this activity,
Iron pans
Floats
Tile Cutter
Cutting machine
Chisels and Hammers
Rubber Mallet
Notched Trowel
Polishing Machine
Spade.
Measuring Tape.
Level pipe.
Plumb
Right Angle.

Joints should be filled up with approved grout material with approved pigment to match
the shade of tile.
The entire finished surface should be thoroughly cleaned to remove all cement stains etc.
Concrete surface shall be cleaned of scales, laitance, set mortar etc. It shall be
washed with clean water.
Marking of the finish level should be marked on the wall by lime with the help of string.
Thaiya of the required finish level should be prepared in advance.
A bedding of cement mortar as per BOQ/Technical specification/Drawing.
Set mortar to accept tiles is applied, no voids under the tiles occur. Grind off high
spots and fill-in low spots as necessary to ensure no voids occur.
Preparation of Floors for Wet Areas: Apply tile mortar to the protection screed floor
in the required thickness.
Tiles shall be placed according to level shown in drawing and shall be placed firmly
with the help of rubber mallet.
As per survey reference level point, tiles shall be laid level or enough slope to drain
(1% slope) in wet areas as required.
Care shall be taken in wet areas to avoid/prevent low spot and pooling of water.
The tiles shall be neatly cut, grind rough on exposed edges around pipes & other
obstructions.
Make provision of floor drains as per approved shop drawings.
When the installation has hardened sufficiently a thick grout of cement mixed with
a minimum amount of water/ grout shall be prepared and brushed over the floor until all
the joints are thoroughly filled.
Application shall be as per BOQ/Tender specification recommendation.
Surplus mortar/grout material shall be removed with a dry cloth.
Do not saw-cut joints after installing tiles.
Provide movement joint not less than 6mm and shall be located as required as
per approved shop drawings.
The completed floor tile should be avoided from traffic for at least 24 hours or specified
in item specifications.
The joint width shall not be more than 3mm & joints to be true to the line, continuous and
without steps as per approved shop drawings.

8. Quality Assurance
All the activities shall be in compliance with approved quality plan.
Inspection test report shall be generated prior to commencement of the activity; any short
fall shall be attended at earlies.
