III. Procedure

A. Learning Activities

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

“Good morning, Class!” “Good morning, Teacher!”
“I would like to introduce myself first, I
am Teacher Cindy, and you can call me “Teacher Dy or Teacher Cindy”
Teacher Dy or Teacher Cindy. Again,
what you can call teacher?”
“Let’s start our day with a Prayer.
May I ask you to repeat after me.
Let’s do our praying position. Bow our (Students will do as what teacher told.)
head, close our eyes, and put our hands
together”.

(Checking of Attendance) “Teacher I am here.”

(The teacher will call the students one by
one)

“Before we start with today’s lesson let’s “Yes teacher!”

do a little bit of energizer.”

(Teacher will play energizer/space song)

“Did you enjoy? Are you now ready to “Yes teacher”
listen?”
“Remember the rules that we have in our “Yes teacher!”
class?

(Teacher will explain their classroom

rules one by one)

What’s our first rule? Second rule? Third (Student will answer)
rule? And the last rule?
Review

“Before we start our lesson, let’s have “Okay Teacher”

first a short review, raise your hand if you
want to answer, okay?

“Pictures of parts of the solar system are “Yes Teacher”

posted in the board, raise your hand if
you know what part of the solar system it
is. Are we clear?”

SUN “Sun”
MOON “Moon”

STARS “Stars”

ASTEROIDS “Asteroids”

COMETS “Comets”

“Excellent students! Looks like you all

paid attention last meeting.”

Motivation
1. Teacher will be going to ask students if what planet they remembered on the
energizer video.
2. Teacher will be going to ask if where planets they live?

Discussion
----

"Our topic for today is all about the 8 (Student listen)

planets in the solar system."

“Is everybody familiar to the 8 planets “Yes teacher”

in the solar system?”

“But first teacher will define if what

solar system is.”

“The solar system is made up of all the (Student listen)

planets that orbit our sun. In addition to
planets, the solar system also consists of
moon, comets, asteroids, minor planets,
and dust and gas.”

“Solar system also consists of?” “Moon Teacher”

“Comets Teachers”

“Before we proceed to the 8 planets

allow me first to define if what planet
is.”

“Planets are celestial bodies moving in (Student listen)

an elliptical orbit around the sun.”

“A planet must do three things: it must

orbit a star, it must be big enough to
have enough gravity to force a spherical
shape, and it must be big enough that its
gravity cleared away any objects of a
similar size near its orbit.”

“Planets are, Interactive. large natural

objects that orbit, or travel around,
stars.”

“Teacher will continue to discuss the

solar system and the 8 planets.”
“Did you know that everything in the (Student listen)
Solar System orbit is revolve around the
Sun. The sun contains around 98% of all
the material in the Solar System. The
larger an object is, the more gravity it
has.

“Again, the sun is containing around “98% Teacher”

___?

“Now, let’s proceed to the 8 planets.” (Student listen)

“We have 8 planets in our solar system.”

“Can anybody give me a 1 planet? “Earth Teacher”

“Earth, Very Good”

“Earth is one of the 8 planets in our

solar system.”

“We have inner and outer planets.” (Student listen)

“In Inner planets we have Earth, Mars,

Mercury, and Venus.”

“And the Outer planets our Jupiter,

Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.”

“Lets first proceed to the 4 Inner

planets.”

“Earth is little more than 12,000 (Student listen)

kilometers in diameter. It differs from
the other planets because it has liquid
water on its surface, maintain life and
has active plate movement. It rotates on
its axis every 24 hours (a day)”

“This planet rotates on its axis every 24 “Earth Teacher”

hours, what is the name of this planet?”

“Mars is a little more than half size of (Student listen)

the Earth. It takes 687 days to revolve
once around the sun.”

"This planet is a little more than half “Mars, Teacher”

size of the Earth."
“Mercury is the closest planet to the (Student listen)
Sun. It orbits the sun quickly, once
every 88 days. It rotates slowly, only
once every 59 days. Mercury is named
for mythical God who run very fast.”

“What is the name of the planet that is “Mercury, Teacher”

closest to the sun?”

“Venus the second planet away from the (Student listen)

sun, is Earth closest neighbor. It is the
same size as the Earth, a little over
12,000 kilometer (7300 miles) in
diameter, also the hottest in the Solar
System about 900k. Rotates 243 days to
complete one turn. It is named from the
Roman goddess of love.

“What is the name of the planet that the Venus, Teacher”

closest neighbor is Earth?”

“Can everybody enumerate the 4 inner “Earth, Mars, Mercury, and Venus.”
planets that are closest the sun?

“Next, is the last 4 Outer planets in the

solar system.”

“Jupiter is the largest planet in the solar (Student listen)

system. Jupiter orbits the Sun once
every 12 years. Rotates every fast in 9
hours and 19 minutes.”

“This planet is the largest planet in the “Jupiter, Teacher”

solar system.”

“Saturn known for its system of three (Student listen)

rings. It is a large planet at 120,536
kilometers. It is only a little smallest
than Jupiter. Revolves around the Sun in
12years. Rotates a little more than 10
hours.”

“It’s known for its system of three “Saturn, Teacher”

rings.”

“Uranus revolves around the sun slowly, (Student listen)

taking 84 years to complete one orbit.
Rotates about 17 hours.”

“This planet is revolving around the sun “Uranus, Teacher”

slowly.”

“Neptune slightly smaller than Venus (Student listen)

with a diameter of 49,500 kilometers. It
circles the Sun once every 165 years,
and rotates in 16 hours, surrounded by
system of the rings.”

“This planet is surrounded by system of “Neptune, Teacher”

the rings.”

“Can anyone give a 2 outer planet?” “Neptune, and Jupiter Teacher”

“And the last 2 outer planets are?” “Uranus, and Saturn Teacher”
“And that’s the inner and outer planets (Student Listen)
in our solar system.”

“Now, can everybody enumerate the 8 “Yes, Teacher”

planets in our solar system to teacher?

“At a count of 3 you will start, ok?” Okay, Teacher”

“1,2,3 “ “Earth, Mars, Venus, Saturn, Mercury,
Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus”
“Very Good Everyone”
Analysis

“Thank you for your active participation (Student will answer)

during our discussion. This time were
going to have a group activity. And were
going to have 3 groups, please count of (Everyone will count)
1, 2, and 3.”

“Now, go to your groups.” (Students will follow)

“Are you now with your groupmates?” “Yes, Teacher”

“Draw and arrange the planets orderly (Everyone works with their group
and identify what are the inner and outer mates)
planet. “

“The First group who will finish the

activity will be the winner.”

“Excellent everyone! Now give yourself (Student will follow)

Application

The teacher will show objects (the 8 (Student will answer)

planets manipulatives) The students will
identify the planets being described.

“(Saturn picture) Revolves around the

sun.”
“(Jupiter picture) Orbits the Sun once
every 12 years.”
“(Uranus picture) revolves around the
sun slowly.”
“(Saturn picture) It’s known for its
system of three rings.”
“(Earth picture) maintain life and has
active plate movement.”
“(Venus’s picture) closest neighbor is
Earth?”
Generalization
“Can anyone tell teacher if what is our “The 8 planets in our solar system,
lesson for today?” Teacher”

“Can everybody define if what solar “The solar system is made up of all the
system is?" planets that orbit our sun.”

"Can anyone give me a 1 example of “Mercury” (Earth, Mars, Venus)

Inner planet?

"Give me example of 1 outer planet." “Uranus” (Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune)

"Can everybody enumerate the 4 inner “Mercury, Earth, Mars, Venus”

planets and the 5 outer planets?"
“Uranus, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune”

IV. Evaluation

The students will be asked to answer the activity sheets where they will label the
planets in our solar system.

V. Assignment

Draw the solar system on your assignment notebook and arrange the 8 planets orderly.
