learners, can continue your studies and learn while at home.
Activities, questions, directions, exercises, and discussions are
carefully stated for you to understand each lesson.
Each SLM is composed of different parts. Each part shall guide you
step-by-step as you discover and understand the lesson prepared
for you.
Pre-tests are provided to measure your prior knowledge on lessons
in each SLM. This will tell you if you need to proceed on completing
this module or if you need to ask your facilitator or your teacher’s
assistance for better understanding of the lesson. At the end of
each module, you need to answer the post-test to self-check your
learning. Answer keys are provided for each activity and test. We
trust that you will be honest in using these.
In addition to the material in the main text, Notes to the Teacher
are also provided to our facilitators and parents for strategies and
reminders on how they can best help you on your home-based
learning.
Please use this module with care. Do not put unnecessary marks on
any part of this SLM. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the
exercises and tests. And read the instructions carefully before
performing each task.
If you have any questions in using this SLM or any difficulty in

C. Solving word problems involving time.
Lucia will go to school one hour after. If it is 6:00 in the
morning, what time will Lucia go to school?

Solution 1:
Time right now is 6:00. She will go to school one hour
after, so, we will add one hour. ( 6 + 1 = 7). Lucia will go
to school by 7:00.

Solution 2:

By using a clock, 7:00 follows 6:00, so

Lucia will go to school by 7:00.

is It

Another examples of what we have discussed.

We can answer the question by using a calendar.

http://www.freeismylife.com/2012/12/freeismylife-january-2013-calendar-dont.html

8
NegOr_Q4_Mathematics1_Module4_v2
January 21 and January 28 both fall on a Monday.
January 28 is seven days after 21.

2. Allan’s Graduation Day is on the first week of April.

His father who is working abroad is planning to go home
one month before his graduation day. What month will

year in order.

March comes before April, so father will be going home

on March.

3. Aubrey read her book for two hours. If she started

reading at 6:00 in the morning, what time did she finish

Count 2 hours after 6:00 and that is 7:00 and 8:00.
Therefore, Aubrey finished reading her book at 8:00 in
the morning.

4. Aisa helped her mother in cooking the food for dinner.

If they started cooking at 4:30 and finished cooking
