TEACHING INTERNSHIP PORTFOLIO
TEACHING INTERNSHIP PORTFOLIO
have just completed my final demonstration lesson. It was a huge success and I am feeling
incredibly proud of myself. The journey leading up to this moment has been filled with
ups and downs, but overall, it has been an incredibly rewarding experience. From
the very beginning, I knew that becoming a teacher was something I was truly
passionate about, but I had no idea just how much I would learn and grow along
the way.
As an intern, I was given the opportunity to observe and learn from some truly
outstanding teachers. I watched as they engaged their students, created dynamic
lesson plans, and managed their classrooms with grace and ease. I was also given
the chance to practice my own skills, with the guidance and support of my mentors.
Of course, it wasn't always easy. There were days when I felt overwhelmed and
unsure of myself, and there were moments when I made mistakes. But each time I
stumbled, I was able to pick myself back up and keep going. And through it all, I
continued to learn and grow.
As my final demonstration approached, I couldn't help but feel a sense of
excitement and nervousness. I had put so much time and effort into planning my
lesson, and I wanted everything to go perfectly. And when the day finally arrived,
I was ready. I stepped into the classroom with confidence, and I could feel the
energy in the room shift as the students began to engage with the material. The
lesson flowed smoothly, and the students were actively participating and asking
questions.
As the lesson came to a close, I knew that I had done it. I had successfully
completed my teacher intern program and had demonstrated that I had what it takes
to be an outstanding teacher. Looking back on this journey, I am filled with a sense
of pride and accomplishment. It wasn't always easy, but I pushed through the
challenges and emerged on the other side stronger and more capable than ever
before.

Week 13th is also a very busy and tiring week. I start the first day of the week
in checking the lesson plan that they should be used for their demonstration. The
next day it was Tuesday, is their first day of demonstrations and I was there to
observe and grade them base on the rubrics I give. The first day demonstrations
were done very well and base on my observation their performance are very good
and excellent although it’s their first ever demo teaching virtually according to
them.
This week is a very busy and tiring week of all. Monday, we have a
synchronous class. I woke up early and started to set up the things I need in
discussion time before it started. I am wearing my uniform and pin. The class
started at 8:30 am and our cooperating teacher is there to observe the flow of my
discussion. The discussion was done early in the hours provided so that I give the
remaining hours to them to do or complying their requirements in the subject. In
the afternoon, Ma’am Kareen my CT remind me to finish our TOS and Test
question for the assessment 3 of our grade 10 students. Tuesday and Wednesday I
spend the whole day in doing the TOS and test question as well as preparing for
our upcoming clean up drive program which held on Friday morning.
Friday the program really comes and happened. I woke up at exactly 4:00 am
then I start the day reminding my student about our program and to bring the
following need in the activity. It was a very nervous but exciting happened this
week. And we are grateful for the successful ends of the program. During this time,
I felt thankful for this because I personally meet my students which help me to
enhance and improve my confidence to communicate with others and improve as
well our relationship as a teacher and students.

In this week I preparing our last topics for the second quarter which is the
electricity and magnetism and after that I remind the student to prepared their final
output where they will be going to do a DIY telescope. I explained to them the
procedure and rubrics for their work.
On the next day, I making a test for their exam, my CT told me to make 50 items
test in PISA type, it’s really hard and frustrating but I still manage to finish the task
my CT give. There so many changes and corrections in making a PISA test but by
the help of my Ct and my co-students intern I survive. Then in the next day we
don’t have any work to do so I check my lesson plan for pre-demo and study to
familiarize the topics I’m going to demo.
On my third day, we help the other teacher to arrange the classroom that we stay
in, we clean and re-arrange the different laboratory equipment and put it to their
new cabinet. We also make our Christmas parol since it’s required to all teacher
and classroom to make and display to each room.
On the fourth day, I help my Ct to print the test papers, so that in dec 2 and 3
it’s all ready and final.

On the next day, I review our topic and then I give a short quiz regarding to
our lessons. After that, I proceed to our new topics which is to identify the
properties of mirrors and lenses. I give them activity and discussed the lesson,
explained the different between those two. I then asked them if they don’t
understand the topics so that I can explained it again, I finish the class by giving
them a short quiz.

On the next day, I give them another activity where they going to identify the
pictures and give their thought to the pictures. They will also present their answers.
I then proceed to the discussion wherein I prepared pictures with text, so that they
can copy the topic while listening. I also demonstrate to them how the effect of
radiation will cause to our environment.
In third day, we finish the topic by watching a video related to the topic and then
I start questions them to know if they really understand the lessons. After that I
give them assignment they need to find another example of effect of Em radiations
to our living things.

In this week our lessons are all about the practical applications of the
different regions of EM waves wherein, I let the student give example on what
different appliances they knew that give wavelength. After that, I review our last
topic about the relative wavelength of different forms of electromagnetic
spectrum. At the end of the class I remind the students to bring any materials for
activity tomorrow.
On the next day, I told the students to get their materials and get ready to
performed the activity. I explained to them the procedures and show them the
rubrics for their works. And then when they already finish their task, I let them
explained their work to their classmates. I then correct their work and add some
advices to make their work better.
In our third day, I proceed to the discussion of our topics and show them an
instructional material that shows the seven types of electromagnetic spectrum. I
explained to them the different wavelength and frequency of each
electromagnetic spectrum. I also prepare a video to show them how the wave of
each type moves and work. At the end of topics, I asked some questions to check
if they understand the topic well.

October 14-17, 2024
Today was the first day of teaching the student for their second quarter
topics, our new lessons are all about the electromagnetic spectrum. I start my
class by asking the student if they are familiar in the topic about waves since in
their grade 7 days, they already have the glimpse about waves. And after that I
let them answered/ performed their activity by the used of rope.
On the next day, I make another activity about waves and then I let the
students share their thought about the activity. After that I start to explained our
topic which is to compare the relative wavelength of different forms.
Today's lecture focused on the two scientist who give their theory about
how the waves form in between of electric field and magnetic field. And then I
give student a pair activity. They will be going to give their own opinion about
the work of those two scientists and present it to the front.
Today was the final day of teaching the student about the different form of
electromagnetic spectrum. I gave the students a final assignment to write an
essay on the topic, focusing on how the waves effect our daily lives.

As the end of the third quarter approaches, it's time for completion week
at our school. This is a busy and sometimes stressful time for both students and
teachers, as we work to finish up our coursework and prepare for final exam.
For students, completion week is all about tying up loose ends. They may
have last-minute assignments to complete, papers to write, or projects to turn in.
It's also a time for studying and reviewing for final exams. Many students feel
overwhelmed during this time, as they try to balance their school work with other
responsibilities.
One of the most challenging parts of completion week for teachers is the
completion of grades. This involves carefully reviewing all of the assignments,
exams, and projects that students have completed throughout the semester and
assigning final grades. It's a responsibility that we take seriously, as these grades
will determine whether student pass or fail.
Despite the stress that can come with completion week, it's also a time of
great accomplishment. For students, it's a chance to reflect on all that they have
learned and achieved over the course of the semester. For teacher, it’s a chance
to see the fruit of our labor as we witness our student’s growth and development.

During exam week, students often have a lot on their plate. They need to
balance their study time with other responsibilities, such as extracurricular
activities, social events, and family obligations. It’s a challenging time, and
it's easy feel overwhelmed.
Despite the challenges, exam week can also be a time of growth and
accomplishment. Many students rise to the occasion, finding new levels of
focus, determination, and resilience.
As an educator, it's essential to support students during exam week. This can
include providing extra resources and support, such as review sessions, tutoring,
or study groups. It's also important to create a positive and encouraging learning
environment, where students feel empowered and motivated to do their best.
On the next day, I let the students to explain their answer regarding to the
topic/ activity I give to them. And after that I processed to the lecture that
focused on the topic entitled the causes of plate boundaries on the earth. I gave
the students examples of how historical and effect of the plate boundaries. We
also discussed the impact of it when it’s hit the earth and how they take actions.
The class was another activity-based one. The students were given different
scenarios, and they had to apply the historical approach to each situation
Overall, teaching the causes of plate boundaries for a week was a great
experience. The combination of lectures and activities allowed the students to
understand the concept better and apply it in different contexts. It was fulfilling
to see the students engage in critical thinking and problem-solving, and I believe
they have gained valuable skills that will serve them well in their future
endeavors.

September 16-19, 2024
Today was the first day of teaching the different processes that occurs along
the plate boundaries. I started the class with a lecture on the key concepts of their
past topics which is the different types of plate boundaries, including the effect
and the importances of the plate boundaries on the earth. After that I start the
class by giving them an activity that related to our topic.
The next day, we focused on activities and by giving the student their time
to explain their answer at the front. I told them to present their presentation by
the use of different materials that are available inside the classroom.
The next day, we continued our discussion on the seconds types of plate
boundaries which is the convergent boundaries. We write the area that usually
found the impact of convergent boundaries and then I give them a activity about
the convergent boundaries.
On my third day, I let them to report their answers in the activity that I give
about the convergent boundaries. We chose a sample piece of writing and
analyzed it together, identifying its strengths and weaknesses. I then make them
worked together to create a convergent boundary by the use indigenous
materials as their assignment.
My second day was very fun because I had the chance to meet some of the
students of my cooperating teacher. On this day, I already have an idea about
how students behave in a classroom set-up. I realized that learners are really
different from each other and they have different unique learning styles. I was
also surprised on how the students behave like; how they behave on class, how
they treat their teachers and how they do their activities. Majority of the students
can be considered as privilege, and it was my first time observing them in a
class.
For this week, I realized that teaching is not an easy task. I am just still a
practice teacher but the responsibilities we already have is not easy as we think.
There are different things that a practice teacher like me should be reminded
such as; the laws that can protect us against unfair or mismanagement, or laws
that protect learners, and other responsibilities. It was also my first-time
observing students who are very far from what environment I know.

Learning Styles and Formative Assessment Strategy: Enhancing Student
Achievement in Web-based Learning
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of formative
assessment and learning style on student achievement in a Web-based learning
environment. A quasi-experimental research design was used. Participants were 455
seventh grade students from 12 classes of six junior high schools. A Web-based course,
named Bio CAL, combining three different formative assessment strategies was
developed. The formative assessment strategies included Formative Assessment
Module of the Web-Based Assessment and Test Analysis system (FAM-WATA) (with
six Web-based formative assessment strategies), Normal Module of Web-Based
Assessment and Test Analysis system (N-WATA) (only with partial Web-based
formative assessment strategy) and Paper and Pencil Test (PPT) (without Web-based
formative assessment strategy). Subjects were tested using Kolb's Learning Style
Inventory, and assigned randomly by class into three groups. Each group took Web-
based courses using one of the formative assessment strategies. Pre- and post-
achievement testing was carried out. A one-way ANCOVA analysis showed that both
learning style and formative assessment strategy are significant factors affecting
student achievement in a Web-based learning environment. However, there is no
interaction between these two factors. A post hoc comparison showed that
performances of the FAM-WATA group are higher than the N-WATA and PPT groups.
Learners with a ‘Duverger’ learning style performed best followed by, ‘Assimilator’,
‘Accommodator’, and ‘Converser’, respectively. Finally, FAM-WATA group students
are satisfied with six strategies of the FAM-WATA.

I would also like to extend a special thank you to my parents, who provided
me with financial support during my teaching internship program. Your
generosity and encouragement allowed me to pursue my passion for teaching and
gain invaluable experience in the classroom.
Secondly, practice teaching helps me develop my teaching style and
approach. As we work with a mentor teacher, you will have the opportunity to
observe and learn from their teaching methods, and then develop your own
approach based on what you have learned. This process will help you become
more confident in your teaching abilities and give you the opportunity to
experiment with different strategies and techniques.
