Test II
Direction: Read the following text and answer the questions below.

The gap between the rich and the poor is a growing problem, and it's not just about money. It's about
a fundamental inequality in opportunities and access to resources. It's undeniably unjust that some children
are born into privilege while others struggle for basic necessities. I strongly believe that every child deserves
a fair chance at a good education, but the reality is that underfunded schools in low-income areas often limit
their potential.
Furthermore, it's clear to me that the concentration of wealth has negative consequences for the economy.
When a large segment of the population struggles financially, it impacts consumer spending and creates a
strain on the social safety net. We need to act. I believe that investing in quality education for all, ensuring
access to affordable healthcare, and promoting fair wages are crucial steps towards a more equitable society.
It's time to bridge the gap and create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Seahorses are the best animals in the world. They are in the genus (group of species) Hippocampus,
which means, “horse sea monster” in Ancient Greek. There are 47 species of seahorses. Only four species
live in the Pacific Ocean next to North and South America. The dwarf seahorses live in Bahamas. Three
kinds live in the Mediterranean Sea; the long-snouted seahorse, the short-snouted seahorse, and the sea
pony. Even though they are slow, I think seahorses are amazing animals to watch. According to 2009
Guinness World Records, the dwarf seahorse is the slowest-moving fish, with a top speed of about 5 feet
(150cm) per hour. Seahorses range in size from a half inch to 14 inches. Seahorses should be protected from
humans who want to capture them. It is bad when humans take them out of their habitat and try to sell them.

16-30 COMPARE AND COTRAST

From the text provided please identify the similarities and the differences of the two objects or persons being
discussed. Make your own Venn diagram at the back of your paper. Use the back of the paper to answer the
following. (The rubrics will be shown during the exam)
Sarah and Michael
Imagine two kids, Sarah and Michael. Sarah lives in a big house with a swimming pool and goes to a
private school with small classes and amazing teachers. She always has new clothes and gets to go on
exciting vacations. Michael lives in a small apartment with his family and goes to a public school that's
crowded and sometimes doesn't have enough books. He often has to wear hand-me-downs and doesn't get to
go on vacations.
Sarah and Michael are like the rich and the poor. The rich often have lots of money, which means
they can afford to live comfortably and have access to many opportunities. They can go to great schools, live
in nice homes, and get the best healthcare. They might even have their own cars and travel to different
countries.
But the poor often struggle to make ends meet. They might have to choose between buying food or
paying rent. Their homes might be small and cramped, and they might not have enough money for new
clothes or toys. They might not be able to afford regular doctor visits or medicine when they're sick.
It's not fair that some people have so much while others have so little. It's important to remember that
everyone deserves a chance to have a good life, no matter how much money they have. We should work
together to make sure everyone has access to the things they need to be happy and healthy.
Maybe Sarah could share some of her toys with Michael, or maybe Michael could help Sarah with
her homework. We can all do small things to make the world a little bit fairer for everyone
