EXTENSION ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY SERVICE
This is through extension and extracurricular activities; the University develops its students into agents of
social change who can offer long-term answers to societal issues. By involving them in extracurricular
activities, the pupils have developed a sense of community duty and selflessness. AJU takes it a responsibility
to extend hands of social service and for that along with NSS and NCC, the respective departments go for
outreach activities and serve the community in many respects.
National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is an Indian Government-sponsored public service program conducted
by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme
was launched in Gandhi’s Centenary year, 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through
community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in Colleges, Universities, and at +2 level
working for a campus-community linkage.
It is functioning actively from the year academic year 2019. In the year 2019-20, 3 NSS Units were
sanctioned with the approval of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India via letter no. F. No.

CULTURAL AND SPORTS ACTIVITIES
Activities that advance or improve the public's understanding of history or society are referred to as
cultural activities. It is the development and improvement of a person's mind, interests, tastes, and talents
because they allow pupils to explore outside of the classroom. Cultural events have traditionally been a
source of great excitement among students. They are motivated by the efforts of intellectuals,
professionals, and artists who act as role models for them.
Keeping this in view, ARKA JAIN University fosters the team spirit through sports conducted by the Sports
Committee of the University. The students are given a wider platform to play different outdoor and
indoor games and they are sent to other sports meet also organized by various educational institutions
across the country. AJU finds it essential that university students from across the nation be brought
together on a "National Platform" through the media of sports and physical activities in order to direct
young people's energy in a positive direction as part of the process of establishing a nation.
AJU hosts RUNBHOOMI, an intra-university sports extravaganza as an annual sports meet to witness
outstanding performances and wide participations across the streams.
The students of AJU participated in Khelotsav, a mega sports meet organized by Central University of
Jharkhand, Ranchi and performed well by bagging over-all runners-up title. The players excelled in
basketball and football winning Gold and in cricket they secured the second position. In Table tennis AJU
was declared second in the category of women.

MAJOR CULTURAL EVENTS
It is indeed a fact that collective, and physical gatherings make a difference. There is profound symbolic
value in the opportunity to experience something together as communities. Cultural events in educational
campus offer such a platform by condensing the exposure to cultural activities over a specific time and
place.
AJU organizes Aagaaz as the annual cultural fest to rejuvenate the students and create an ethos of
collective effort and cultural interaction.

Student Induction Programme engages with the new students as soon as they come into the institution;
before regular classes start. At the start of the induction, the incumbents learn about the institutional
policies, processes, practices, culture and values, and their mentor groups are formed. The induction
programme introduces the students to the programme of study and the facilities available to them. The
objective is to prepare students for their course of study and ensure a smooth transition into university
life.
There are singing, dance and theatrical performances by the existing students during the entire
programme and it creates an environment of interactions.

Freshers' day marks the beginning of a new journey in a student's life. It is the day when the seniors of
the University extend a warm welcome to its new batch of students. In addition, senior students meet the
juniors to unitedly celebrate being a part of the University.
At AJU, Roo-ba-Roo is the freshers’ meet which starts with vibrant performances from both the seniors
and the new entrants. It becomes a stress-free ice-breaker session as well creating a cultural link and
sensible bonding.

Holi Invasion
The Indian festival of Holi is in the pleasure of the arrival of spring, love, and new life. While some families
undertake religious rituals, for many, Holi is just a time for celebration. It's a vibrant festival with singing,
dancing, and the flinging of coloured water and powder paint. The "festival of colours" is a different name
for Holi.
Holi, also known as the festival of colour, is a joyous celebration during which family and friends splash
one other with coloured water and daub coloured powders on each other.
AJU celebrates Holi with the title ‘Holi Invasion’ that signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of
spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and
repair broken relationships, and is also celebrated as a thanks giving for a good harvest. It gives a
message of unity and trust.

Yuva
The vivacity of any live event is its dance performancesand most would not settle for anything but the
best which is why two professional Jharkhand folkdance troops namely Santhal and Ho dance teams were
invited with the help of Tata Steel Foundationto perform and by their performance they provided a sense
of identity and mesmerized the audience atthe same time.

Roshni
In India Diwali is a five-day long celebration, with the third day serving as the primary event. Most people
pray to Ganesh, the god of luck and wisdom for the upcoming year, and Lakshmi, the goddess of riches,
during Diwali night. Although Diwali marks various historical occurrences and tales for each of the four
major world religions—Hinduism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Buddhism—it nonetheless symbolizes the
triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil.
AJU celebrates Diwali by the name ‘Roshni’ in which a number of cultural performances are
executed by the students and staffs.

AJU takes the students to different places of historical, cultural and mythological importance in the form
of educational tour-Carvaan, as educational excursions are learning opportunities that let students put
their teachings into practice in the real world. These vacations frequently serve as the student's most
treasured memories. On an educational excursion, students' brains are relaxed, which increases their
likelihood of learning.
