BIS 205 – INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Type Core
Semester 1
Prerequisites ICT121,122 OR BIS 100
Course Synopsis This course builds upon the students’ knowledge gained in ICT 121 and
122 or BIS100. Topics include: computer applications and systems
software; application packages; data organization and access methods;
introduction to databases; introduction to data communications and
computer networks – LANS, WANS, the Internet, and Electronic business.
By the end of the course, students should be computer savvy i.e.
knowledgeable computer users. The knowledge gained in the course
should be useful in the students’ personal space as well as in the work
place later in life.
