Introduction
Any substance which has tendency to flow is called Fluid.
Fluid Mechanics: that deals with fluid at rest (fluid statics), in motion
(fluid dynamics), interaction of fluids with solid or other fluids at the
boundaries.
Fluid Mechanics
Introduction
Study of incompressible liquids such as water is called Hydrodynamics,
sub category Hydraulics which deals with flow of water in pipes and
channels
Flow of fluids that undergoes significant density change is called Gas
dynamics (flow of gases through nozzles at high speed). A gas such as
methane passing through compressor.
Aerodynamics: Deals with the gas flows (especially air) around the
airplanes, rockets, and automobiles at high or low speed.
