JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title / Position Assistant Professor (Basic Sciences)


Department
Reporting line Dean through HOD

A. Academic:
1. Teaches undergraduate students through lectures, Small Group Discussions,
PBL Sessions,
2. Daily progress reports, home assignments, periodical tests and other teaching
learning
3. Modalities.
4. Organizes and monitors academic activities of the students.
5. Allocates projects to the students during vacation and monitor and asses them
by keeping liaison on email. Such assessment will be communicated in writing
to the HoD. This may be used as part of internal assessment of the students.
6. Participates in organizing and updating curriculum so as to incorporate latest
developments.
7. Training & development of lecturers/demonstrators.
8. Actively participates in the development of research culture and contributes at
least one research paper annually.
9. Prepare minimum of 50 MCQs, 10 MEQs and 10 SEQs per annum and submit it
to the examination department of PMC for inclusion in the MCQ bank.i
10.Conducts theoretical & practical internal Exams of the students.
11.Help and assist in conduction of professional examinations (internal and end of
the year) as required by the HoD form time to time.
12.Participate in various workshops and training programs organized by
Department of Medical Education.

B. Management:
1. Takes part in the organization of academic schedules for undergraduate and
post graduate students.
2. Inculcates & promotes professional ethical values among lecturers & students
and formally discuss such issues in group discussion / seminars etc.
3. Ensure implementation of decisions, traditions and values of the college as
communicated to him directly and also proactively work for the vision and
mission of the institution.
4. Conduct and promote co-curricular and support activities of the students as
advised by the college authorities from time to time.
5. Participate in various meetings called by HOD.
6. Ensures implementation of various decisions taken by HOD.

Key Performance Indices (KPIs)


1. Student’s exams results.
2. No of research papers published in a year.
3. No of teachers’ training hours in a year (both in the institution and external)
a. No of seminars, conferences, CPCs and Journal Clubs arranged and attended in
the unit / Hospital
4. Number of MCQs, MEQs and SEQs prepared and submitted to examination
department for inclusion in the bank.
5. Cordial relation with colleagues and smooth running with staff in Unit as per
the HoD Feedback
6. In time completion of tasks as assigned from time to time by HOD and any
other Competent authority
7. Students’ satisfaction in terms of teaching and time management.
8. Punctuality.

2. Keeps record of all teaching sessions conducted in the department.
3. Participate in curriculum development.
4. Participate in various capacity building programs as per advice of HoD.
5. Facilitate students in various assignments.
6. Facilitate students in their research projects.
7. Promote and inculcates professional and ethical values in the students in line
with the college mission and vision.
8. Ensures implementation of the tasks assigned to him by the administration
from time to time.
9. Shows concerns to develop culture of ownership to the decisions, traditions
and values of the college.
10.Organizes and participate in the Co-Curricular activities of the students as
required by the College Management.

B- Management
1. Manages discipline of the department including punctuality and dress code of
the junior staff.
2. Ensure discipline of students including punctuality and dress code.
3. Actively participates in various committee meetings as assigned by HoD.
4. Helps in Organizing and Conducting of internal and final theoretical & practical
Exams of the students.
5. Promote and inculcates professional and ethical values in the students in line
with the College mission and vision.
6. Ensures implementation of the tasks assigned by the administration from time
to time.
7. Shows concerns to develop culture of ownership to the decisions, traditions
and values of the college.
8. Organizes and participate in the Co-Curricular activities of the students as
required by the College Management.
9. Supervise maintenance of departmental laboratories.
10.Organizes various practical sessions as advised by HoD.
