Job Description: L1 Linux/GCP Support Engineer (Mexico)

Location: Onsite-México City (Santa Fe)

Type: Full-time

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and motivated L1 Linux/GCP Support Engineer to provide
technical support for our cloud-based infrastructure, primarily focusing on Google Cloud Platform
(GCP) and Linux environments. As an L1 engineer, you will be responsible for handling first-level
support tasks, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving technical issues. You will work
closely with higher-level support engineers and system administrators to ensure the stability and
efficiency of our systems.

• Activities planned

o Production deployment activities for both On-Prem and Cloud

o Production day-to-day jobs handling

o Monitoring production system/logs and raise the issues

o Explore the best practices in market and implement the same for better
management of Production servers

o Making sure Production servers are always available to end users

o Development of any tools/utility for day-to-day operations as required

• Skill set

o Comfortable for performing any operations on Linux/Unix servers

o Good at Shell scripting

o Good at Cloud management

o Automate the day-day basis jobs as much as possible for reducing human
interventions

• Current build and deployment process which needs to be followed

1. Deliverables In-Scope

2. Server Management:

• File system management, including disk space monitoring and maintenance.

1. Troubleshooting:

• Identifying and resolving hardware and software issues on Linux servers.


• Debugging system crashes and analyzing system logs (e.g., syslog, dmesg) to diagnose
problems.

1. Security Management:

• Implementing security best practices, including patch management and vulnerability


assessments.

• Monitoring for and responding to security incidents and breaches.

1. Backup and Recovery:

• Implementing backup strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.

1. Performance Monitoring:

• Monitoring system performance using tools like Dynatrace, vmstat, and GCP Monitoring.

1. Scripting and Automation:

• Writing scripts (e.g., Bash, Python) to automate routine tasks and server management.

• Creating and managing cron jobs for scheduled tasks.

1. Software Installation and Updates:

• Installing, upgrading, and managing software packages using package managers like apt or
yum.

• Ensuring software is up-to-date and secure through regular updates.

1. Documentation:

• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation of server configurations, procedures,


and troubleshooting guides.

1. User Support:

• Providing technical support to end-users or other team members working with Linux
systems.

1. Monitoring and Alerts:

• Setting up monitoring tools (e.g., Dynatrace) to track server health and performance.

• Responding to alerts and taking corrective actions as needed.

1. Collaboration:

• Collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders to address cross-functional issues and
projects.

1. Training and Knowledge Sharing:

• Training and mentoring junior support staff or team members.


• Sharing knowledge through documentation and team discussions.

1. Continuous Learning:

• Staying current with Linux developments, new technologies, and emerging security threats.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of Linux systems (e.g., Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS) and experience with
command-line tools.

• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and basic cloud computing concepts.

• Understanding of networking fundamentals (DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs).

• Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., Jira, ServiceNow) and IT support processes.

• Good problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose technical issues.

• Strong communication skills in both English and Spanish (verbal and written).

• Willingness to work in a shift-based/on-call support environment.
